Photographer's Note
Gentiana Verna is a variform species that occurs in many places of C. & S. Europe and easterly till the Central Asia.
On Olympus Mt., it is represented by ssp. Balcanica, a perennial plant, having a height of 3-7 cm with thin underground buds, ending in roses through oval and sharp leaves. Those roses form thicket or pillow.
The flowers are solitary and marginal. The calyx has 5 wings and lance-shaped teeth. The corolla has a length of 15-25 mm and is deep blue shining.
Lies on snow-covered meadows, onto the alpine zone (2000-2800m. approximately).

Hi Athanasios, gentiana, not this kind, but a very tiny kind, was my favourite flower during my childhood. As I am very nearsighted, I loved to go very close to very tiny flowers, and study their details. The most amazing with the gentiana is the very beautiful, special and very intensive blue colour! Your photo is very good.
I have seen the Mount Olympus, from the road, and sure is an impressing mountain. But I missed your Greek gentianas. TFS!

Hello, Athanasios,
what a wonderful shot with winter so near. It is such a pleasure to see these brightly colored flowers and remember summer. I love the way you have placed them in your shot and the color is just superb. This shot made me smile. Thank you and warm regards,
Shelly

Geia soy Thanasi,
I'm happy to see such tinny beauties whith useful note. It's a photo which can be appropriate for TrekNature, but no problem to see it here, specially in winter time. Olympus Mt has many endemic plants. It's a real treasure. One day I will go there to see them...

Hi Athanasios,
Sometimes beauty comes in small parcels like this blue dainty flower. First time I've seen such color for a flower ... beautiful indeed. This must have been taken from a higher altitude judging from the compactness and small size of the flower. Well captured and presented. Well done! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

Hello Athanasios -
This is a very nice image, I do like the blue flowers. IMO, I think there is a bit too much extraneous stuff in the image and it could be cropped a bit tighter. I think I would crop from the left and the bottom to tighten the focus on the subject. Well done anyway.
Thank you for sharing.
