Photographer's Note
This photo was taken on a photography outing in the abandoned silver mines of lavrio, a small town some kilometers out of Athens.
The mine has a long history: the first veins of silver were discovered and exploited in ancient time. During the Turkish occupation of greece the mining operations in the area ground to a halt (or maybe it stopped some time ago, during the Byzantine period). The operations started again by the Greek goverment, sometime it the 19th century. Today, the operations have stopped again, as the silver deposits are practically exhausted, but the facilities ruins remain. The place has come under the care of National Metsovian University, and some restoration works are under way, but still the majority of the area is a place of haunted ruins.
About the photo: Minimal PP, just sharpening and some tonal adjustments.

What a great abandoned place with beautiful industrial tones and interesting details.
I think cropping the upper and lower part out could make the image more effective - I posted a WS...
Well captured, Giorgos - if you have some more shots taken there, please post them, too.
