Margaret Island (Margitsziget)

The capital's most beautiful and protected park is home to numerous rare and valuable plants that are a delight to the eye. On the Island there are also protected heritage buildings, as well as sports grounds and open-air swimming pools for leisure activities.
When the River Danube was regulated, Margaret Island evolved from several smaller islands. Today it is a 95.6 hectare area, 2,500 metres long and, at its widest part, 500 metres wide.
Its most famous plants are the vast plane trees which, in some cases measure 2 metres across. The unique maple and ash tree which have grown into one another stands at St Margaret's grave among the ruins of the former Dominican Monastery. Strollers can take a rest in the Japanese garden, in the rose garden, next to tended flower beds, or at the small wildlife park.
Margaret Island boasts several heritage sights: the protected Water Tower, Musical Well, ruins of the Franciscan church, reconstruction of the St Michael's church of the Premonstratensians. Among the many statues in the Park, there is the so-called Artists' Avenue along which there are a series of busts representing some of the great figures of Hungarian art.The Island caters for sporty people (sport and tennis grounds, the Alfr嶮 Haj鏀 Sport Swimming Pool, jogging track) and also for bathers (Palatinus).Margaret Island is accessible to wheelchairs. With the exception of taxis, no personal vehicle traffic is allowed on the Island. It can be reached by tram (Nos. 4, 6) or by bus (No. 26).

Hi George,
The combination of the warm glow from the sun and the autumn colors creates a very pleasant rustic look. Good decision to include the walkers as they give scale of dimension to the whole scene. The long shadows is a big plus to the overall image. Well captured and composed. Well done! tfs

I like the cross-lighting in this shot and the two figures walking along the path. All makes for a very nice ambience, truly evocative of the season.

Hi George,
That is an optimal light for sure, giving warm colors and enhancing the textures details...also giving long graphical shadows. The people coming into the scene add life and movement to the picture.

Nice again, George, a simple scene but with lovely light and some important diagonals: the road and the shadows crossing it. It would be a TE cliche to say "human element brings interest and dynamism" ;)), but I guess in this case this is a correct statement :)

warm capture with the sunlight and the shadows. Good POV with all those different diagonal lines crossing itselfs. Both coming and those other in the background add life. Good textures and sharpness.

What a beautiful park George. I impressed how clean and pretty is it. I like the trees there with many stem leaving the same place. Beautiful shadows too. The object close to the guy are the same of the other photo?

You had wonderful light here and choosed a great POV.The diagonal footpath gives the image a good depth and I like the crossing shadows.The two man are walking at the perfect position and I like the autumnatmosphere in this warm light.

The low sunlight is beautiful through the trees. It adds very nice and warm tones and creates interesting shadows as diagonals through the photo. You captured the autumn atmosphere also very well and I like the addition of the people. Well done!

Your view here makes me homesick, George! This reminds me of the Prater in Vienna. You don't mention Horse Chestnut Trees in your note, but I remember, aside from Plane, Maple and Ash, the Chestnut Trees in the Danube Valley were unique and very big. On a fall day like this, walking under the trees, the horsechestnuts would rain down on you sometimes from a great height....
