Photographer's Note
In June this year I was able to travel around Iceland by car. One of my favourite places was Siglufjordur, in the far north, situated on a fjord with the same name.
Once one of the main centres of the herring industry - and a superb herring museum (the red building on the far right) is one of the town's highlights - it is today a very quiet fishing town, but it'll perhaps become a more important tourist centre in the north with the building of the superlative, brand new Siglo Hotel, which is the pale green building on the left side of this photo. I was told that a local man made himself into a multi-millionaire in the USA and came back to Iceland to build it in his home town. We were fortunate to stay in it, completely by chance, without knowing in advance what the agent had booked in for us in each town. The small water feature in the foreground is a very warm geothermal pool.
Some TE members may have seen an Icelandic crime show on TV, called 'Trapped'. It was mostly filmed in Siglufjorder. Perhaps the new hotel and the fame reflected from the TV show will arrest the decline of the town's population, which was much greater in the herring years.

Hi Andrew,i been there me too a year ago,but in August and without snow, the element that makes the difference in the composition. A great capture of the small port and the lovely village where it's possible to live the herring history in the musuems as you know, made in a fantastic quality,i like it!Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Andrew,
We did indeed see 'Trapped', an excellent series but with much more snow around than that shown here. I like the point of view looking across the fjord toward the snow capped mountains and the reflections. The fishing boat is well placed and makes a good pointer drawing the viewer into the scene. Very agreeable lights and colours and excellent clarity.

Hello Andrew,
A very attractively composed picture.
So from in that warm pool in the foreground people can enjoy this splendid view of the small port and town and the majestic snowy mountains.
I had never heard of this town and also not of the crime show.
This picture looks in any case very promising.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Andrew,
Nice to see a new upload from you and the hot water pool looks a treat with the snowy bg peaks. The fishing boat adds depth & layering to the composition. Tfs!

Hello Andrew,
It's a very nicely composed photo with interesting features framing the entire view of the bay. The colours are pleasant and you processed the photo well. The scenery is beautiful, which seems to be the case everywhere on Iceland. The hotel gets good reviews but the price for a room would make it above my normal budget. But I believe nothing on Iceland would fit my normal budget for eastern Europe or Asia.
Best regards,
Gert

Bonjour Andrew,
C'est une des raisons pour lesquelles de plus en plus de gens veulent visiter l'Islande.Des paysages encore sauvages et immenses sous un ciel impeccable.

Hello Andrew,
A fascinating and informative note you have given us - and how nice that you were able to stay in this spanking new hotel here. I trust that you were suitably pampered.
And what a beautiful photograph you have presented too. Your composition is both perfect and most pleasing, the small rectangular geothermal pool making a fine foreground feature, the fishing boat perfectly placed in the frame on the "third" and the distant mountains making a lovely background beneath a wonderfully characterful sky.
Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and clarity throughout.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Andrew,
What day! I saw the picture of Jason, who appears here very rarely and now you! Maybe TE is not quite lost, hopefully. Fabulous view of this small harbour with only one fishing boat. Very nice this green hotel, what a place with wonderful view of the port and snow capped mountains. Fantastic composition, fine colours, stunning sharpness. All first class. I would love to see Iceland but as I do not drive a car, and also my friends (and my husband is rather reluctant), it is rather difficult.
Kind regrads MAlgo

Hello Andrew,
This pool definitely has a unique and beautiful view. The boat and snow-capped mountains in the distance are great, and it looks so calm. With the ladder in the foreground, right up against the bottom of the frame, it looks like you're inviting us to enter the pool, and to enter the scene. :-)

Hi Andrew
Welcome back....
Very nicely framed by the essential geothermal pool and fishing boat, make me wander through the bay and explore what’s beyond heading towards the beautiful
distant snowpeaks. Super shot and great location, it's always a good feeling when the shot you envisage turns out well when the weather is kinder to you - too good to miss! Gets a big wow from me...instant impact with that colour and detail, excellent exposure and wonderful depth, much enhanced by the wonderful
stunning sky! Amazing vista, love your fishing place.......
Thsk for sharing, enjoy reading your story !!
My compliments
Best wishes.

Hello Andrew
Indeed, I looked at the series “Trapped” on Netflix and I also think I did see this place from 10 km height this summer, flying above a cloudless northern part of Iceland to Canada. But both didn’t have the charm of your beautiful picture. I like your POV and framing.
Excellent work
Have a nice day. Groet Rob

Hello Andrew
I like the framing within the frame with the basin below and the houses on the left. Good depth too, the mountains in the bg are impressive.

Hi Andrew,
Beautiful landscape from northern Iceland. Snow on the mountains and half cloudy sky seem to be just right. That fishing boat is well placed and the thermal pool is quite original foreground subject.

Hi Andrew.
A wonderful place, captured with very well chosen POV, showing all the grandeur and beauty of the place, ideal this boat in the foreground, with the port in the shape of a horseshoe and the circus of mountains as a fantastic background.
A magnificent color that gives a lot of chromatic richness to the image.
Very good lighting management and very good sharpness.
Well done. I like it.
I wish you a pleasant week.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Andrew
i'm really enjoying your Iceland series, we were both there at pretty much the same time :) I was there only a couple months later.
This is a great shot, how it wraps around the frame on all sides. The depth is A+, the cloud coverage is A+, and having the fishing boat upfront is the icing on the cake. wonderful exposure and lighting throughout. cheers
Craig
