Photographer's Note

In great falls, you shall find great heights.

Dettifoss. One of the most impressive waterfalls I have ever encountered. Pure male power, pure strength and force.
The stones around it are grey, as the glacier water flowing down past them.
There are no lines, no warning signs, no nothing to keep you from walking right up to it, and perhaps even to keep you from jumping into it. The grey stones hang next to the waterfall, inviting the most adventurous ones to sit atop them, to trust their lives into their hands and their tenacity to withstand the power of time.

He ventured closer and closer to it, this one being the first one of a series of pictures where he slowly meets the waterfall and sits right by it. Here he walks almost right smack in the middle of the picture, yet I still chose it because of all the wider look we get here, allowing us to get a glimpse of the stones around as well as the waterfall and "canyon" it comes down through.

The day had already passed and the clouds came in to darken that midsummer evening.
It was cold and uncozy.
The waterfall rushed past us, plunging into the space and wrapping our ears and hearts with a loud sound, making its immense power and determination to push on deeper and deeper undeniable.

Up the stream of the J闥uls Fj闤lum river, you can find the softer and smoother falls of Selfoss.

I cropped the picture from the top and bottom and lightened it up, adding some contrast and my name. The sky turned out blue like that although on the day it was grey. I think my lovely D70 likes to add strange colors to the skies by itself, it has a mind of its own...

An advance Thank You to all those amongst You who take the time to criticize and/or leave a comment!
