Photographer's Note

The Golden Circle is a 300 kilometre route to the three most popular natural attractions in Iceland: the Geysir Geothermal Area, Gullfoss Waterfall and 溮ngvellir National Park.

We went there on our first day in Iceland. We were lucky with the weather - it was cold but sunny, no wind and the fresh snow looked fantastic. The roads were black.

溮ngvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geological significance. The park lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. To its south lies 溮ngvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.
溮ngvellir is associated with the Althing, the national parliament of Iceland, which was established at the site in 930 AD. Sessions were held at the location until 1798. (Wikipedia)

The Icelandic alphabet is notable for its retention of two old letters which no longer exist in the English alphabet: �, � (瑜rn, modern English "thorn") and �, � (e�, anglicised as "eth" or "edh"), representing the voiceless and voiced "th" sounds (as in English thin and this), respectively. The Icelandic signs look strange with these two letters.
The names seem also very difficult but when you divide them and understand the parts, it is not so bad. Eyjafjallaj闥ull is the famous volcano. J闥ull means glacier. Eyjafjalla is now easy :).

Hello Malgo,
It's a nice scenery with fine contrasts between the white snow, the dark rocks and the blue sky. You managed to find a good place for reflections. It's a very well exposed photo which really makes the scenery look so clean and fresh.
The Icelandic language is not very easy for Swedes, and probably not even for Norwegians or Danes. It has remained virtually the same for 1000 years, while the Scandinavian languages have changed very much since the Viking ages. I can only vaguely understand an Icelandic text, and only provided I know from the start what it is about. Norwegian and Danish is very easy.

Hello Malgo,
A beautiful winter landscape of this famous national park! You were so lucky with the bright and sunny day and the fresh snow! The circumstances were ideal. The cliffs in the background look particularly nice with the thin layers of snow on the brown rocks.

Witaj Malgo!

This is remarkable insofar as Thingvellir is obviously a very nice and quiet place, a place of outstanding geological importance and one of the oldest places of active democracy on earth. I like it!

If not yet, I will now rely on my new iphone 8+ which I received on Christmas from our elder son who demanded that his father should not be denied modern ways of communication...

Hello Malgo,

This photograph reveals so much about the beautiful, snowy scenery to be found in Iceland. In fact, it really lives up to its name!
I like the composition and the shimmering reflections in the water.
The f/g does have a blue cast which can be muted in PS if you have a desire to do so.
