Photographer's Note
This photo is taken in Flúðir, a small village in the region of of Suðurland, Icelan . The village has about 400 inhabitants. Apart from tourism the principal occupation in Flúðir is greenhouse and mushroom cultivation. The area is very thermally active and geothermal energy is used for heating of the greenhouses. This is actually one of the oldest and most important usages of geothermal energy in Iceland. As you could see there are also plenty of trees in Flúðir. A factory for laminated wood is located to Flúðir. A salmon river, Stora-Laxa, runs through village. The village is not far from tourist attactions such as the Thjorsa Valley, Geysir and the Gullfoss water fall and there are also an Iceland Air Hotel, farm accomodations and caping sites in Flúðir.

There is a softness to this landscape which I wouldn't really associate with Iceland Ulf and seeing it in combination with your very good note has proved very interesting. I had never thought about the possibilities of heating greenhouses with thermal energy but it makes sense! A shot very much in the ethos of TE. Warm regards for 2014. Rosemary

Hej Ulf,
Lika ödsligt här men träden ser högre ut än vad jag föreställt mig. De röda taken ger ju naturligtvis fina accenter i bilden.

Hej Ulf,
Gert

Hello Ulf ,
For an icelandic landscape , this looks unusually lush . The composition is really interesting, with the farmstead and the greenhouses , and the moutains in the BG .

Hej Ulf,
Boa

Hej Ulf,
that's an interesting beautiful view; the softness of its colours and light is very well brightened up by the white house with a red roof.
An excellently composed image!
Gott nytt är!
kind regards,
Elena

It is a common knowledge that Iceland is mostly green and Greenland is almost totaly white ice cupped, Ulf. Irony on the names given, or a wishful thinking.
Red roof house stands out in contrast, and with DOF and light well collected.
Good evening,
Ike
