Thor and his hammer, a photo from Gullbringusysla, Sudurnes

Photographer's Note

This photo is taken in the southern outskirts of the Islandic port town of Hafnarfj顤繠r about 10 km south of Rekjavik. For those of you familiar with Norse mythology might know what the artwork on the trailer depicts. It is Thor, a major Norse god associated with thunder and lighting. If you have closer look at his cart pulled by two goats you will find that spokes of the wheels take the form of lightning flashes. In his hand Thor has his hammer, Mj闤nir. A fearsome weapon capable of felling giants and crushing rocks. Mj闤nir hits everything Thor aims at and then it returns to his hand. Thor also use his hammer to throw it towards the clouds in the sky to create thunder.

Bra att du l鄚kade till den st顤re versionen, s� att man kan se alla detaljerna i statyn av Tor. Ja, n酺 man inte visste b酹tre, var det ju enklare att uppfinna gudar f顤 att f顤klara alla naturvetenskapliga fenomen som man inte f顤stod... Men ytterligare en vacker bild fr幩 det 鐰sliga Island och h酺 kan man ju ocks� se bergen i fj酺ran. Ett vackert hus dessutom.

Hej Ulf,
jag tror faktiskt att jag ocks� har k顤t f顤bi h酺, konstverket med Tor k鄚ner jag i alla fall igen.(har f顤resten Mj闤ner runt halsen sen 20 緳 tillbaka) Fint f幩gad bild av det h酺 huset och den karga naturen runtomkring. Isl鄚ningarna 酺 nog ganska h酺dade f顤 att kunna bo p� en s幩 h酺 bl廛ig plats:)

Hi Ulf,
nice the view as the presentation of the place with the trailer to be pulled by the two goats as someone can see with a closer view.I like the contrast of the colours as the clarity of the scene.

Detta verkar vara en fin strandtomt, men i det isl鄚dska klimatet kanske det inte alltid 酺 s� kul att bo s� utsatt. Konstverket 酺 ju spektakul酺t men jag undrar vad det g顤 just h酺. Sk霵t att det nu g緳 att visa st顤re versioner av bilderna s� att man kan betrakta skulpturen mer i detalj. Det 酺 en vacker men vindpinad och regndr鄚kt milj� men f酺gerna 酺 fina.

Good evening Ulf,
The mithical statue adds much interest to this picture, though I'd like to see a bit closer view upon(if possible).
Beautiful mansion complex, out of town and close to sea. Not many cities in Icland, and this is common way of living, I suppose.
Fine clear view and vivid colors on.
