Photographer's Note
Waiting for new holidays, Craig inspired me to reopen the Icelandic archive, where I have 1,500 photos and only posted 27 of them. I start from Glaumbaer, where you get to the 18th century peat farm museum; it is the best museum of its kind in all of Northern Iceland and definitely worth the small 8km detour from Hringvegur.
The traditional Icelandic peat farm was a complex of separate small buildings connected by a central corridor. In Glaumbaer you can admire this type of construction with some sections full of period furniture, accessories and utensils, which allow you to better understand the difficult living conditions of the time. 2 photos of the interior in the WS.

Ciao Luciano
The old wooden dray in the centre makes a fine focal point. I like the ^ arrangement of the houses. Good sharpness and the red and blue coats on the tourists add a warm cold color contrast. Tfs!

Hi Luciano
haha...glad I could inspire you :)
I also visited similar places in Iceland..not this one, but similar. Maybe I should post as well, as now you have inspired me :) Classic Iceland type of scene with the grass rooftops. the Interior shots are just as good if not even better. Its so much fun seeing these in person. cheers

Hello Luciano,
I imagine scenes like this could also be found in parts of Ireland, maybe especially the northwest, where peat farming has been important for centuries. But maybe these buildings have a distinct Icelandic style that couldn't be found anywhere else, except perhaps the Faroe Islands or Norway. It's a very nice view of the pretty huts with the large lawn in the foreground. The WS are also interesting, but we needed this exterior to understand anything.
Thank you for adding my latest photo to your favourites. It is always an honour.
Best regards,
Gert

Bonjour Luciano,

Ciao Luciano,
very charming scene although the light was quite harsh and the sky is very bright. The houses make a nice pattern as if made for a railway model for children.
Very well done,

Ciao Caro Luciano,
Life looked very bleak in those days!
The utensils were pretty basic and they would have had whole months with little or no daylight! Maybe Italy just wins!
It's a fine, well composed photograph, showing the characteristic details of the buildings and a couple of visitors.
Is the standing stone a religious element and maybe the one on the left.
It reminds me of what is to be seen at prehistoric sites in Scotland.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

curious these row of similar houses. as you said it is curious they are united by a corridor, probably a subterranean one.. nice inclusion of the cart in front. the roofs with grass and soil should be more efficient for temperature.
take care

Hello Luciano,
A very nice photo of this row of small wooden façades with the largest one placed in the middle. The yellow details look very nice in particular. Also that old cart is well placed in the centre.

Ciao Luciano,
I like these kinds of old structures, and these seem quite small. The person entering the building on the left looks like they need to bend down to enter. The old wagon is a nice detail, too. Take care!

Hi Luciano
A good one to revisit with and taken from land level unlike Craig's drone ones.
A very intriguing scene for this unique style of building. Good WS photos too.

Ciao Luciano,
The five wooden huts consist of the farm-museum complex and covered with a climber plants, well placed in a row facing facade's.Grey sky were not contributing, nonethelrss, managed the colors with vivid tones.
The old cart looks as "breaking" the pattern.

Ciao Luciano What an interesting topic: These tiny shops keeping holding hands firmly express intense family ties for the official portrait in the open countryside!
Beautiful mood of solidarity conveyed in this breath of fresh air!

Hi Luciano.
Without a doubt, life in these farms in the 18th century must have been very hard, with the isolation and extreme temperatures, seen from the outside these houses look charming, the photos of the WS show us the basic utensils in a simple environment.
Magnificent color, both lighting and sharpness are perfectly managed.
Very well captured. I like
Have a great weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Luciano, I have many such folders in my archive, that I have hundreds of photos and I showed only several of them. Lovely view of these simple huts with the grass on the roofs.
I also wait for the possibility to travel. Interesting museum. The guy in red sitting in the cart is a surprising bonus.
Best regards MAlgo

Hello Luciano,
Nice row of traditional cottages. The interior of the smallest with few windows is presumably rather dark. But with the long winter nights that may not matter too much.
I also saw the vegetation on the roofs in Norway.
Beautiful pictures of the simple household goods in the WS.
Best regards, Paul

Ciao Luciano,

Great looking old farm houses and nice coordinating colours which seems to fit in nicely. The fresh green gives a lovely lift with added interest of the retro cart. Nice take
