Photographer's Note
Shot was made early in the morning at 05:35 on the Portmarnock Beach in Dublin, Ireland.
I already made few shot of the pre-dawn beach, so I decided to concetrate on some close up studies of the beach. Low tide revealed some amazing sand patterns on the beach and the warm light of rising sun created beautiful play of light and shade.
I opted for this composition, as I felt it was better with the rock breaking the pattern, thus creating focal point of the image and also giving the scene necessary depth.
One comment though: I am new to TE, so have a bit of head ache when downsizing images for TE. As a result they seem to suffer from increased noise and loss of sharpness (look at some of my other images). Is there anybody out there who can help me with this, or point at some forum here on TE, that already covered this issue?

Hello Juraj,
Very nice composition and colours. The low-tide sand patterns are very attractive, particularly in that low light. I like the use of the wide-angle lens looking down. I'm in two minds about the rock. On the one hand it does increase depth and make the beach more concrete, but a more abstract composition with just the sand patterns might have been nice too.
As for downsizing, I personally select "Optimise to file size" at 200kb when saving as jpg in Photoshop. Of course this gives varying results according to the detail and particularly the texture of the image. This kind of image with so much sand and texture probably contains a lot of information anyway and suffers when compressed. Still, it looks quite sharp to me.
I don't know whether there are any forums on this subject though.
I look forward to seeing more of your pictures.
Regards
John
