Photographer's Note
Part three. On the previous photo was a line of police. As was pointed out by a critiquer, they looked rather scared. Its not surprising if you put yourselves in their shoes. The look of apprehension can be seen on this girl protestors face and some others behind her look decidedly the same. It could easily kick off at any moment as tensions rise between the police and peace protestors.

Powerful moment you captured here, Mark, can't understand the lack of response here...
The one way to improve it even more would have been a B/W conversion which this screams for I thyink (with a touch of grain thrown in for good measure...)
Nice work. Do NOT be discouraged, keep uploading these vibrant people shots.
Cheers,
Francis

Dramatic image, Mark. Looks like still from a film -- Bertolucci, maybe. The previous poster makes a good point that this would be good in b&w as well, but I like the colors a lot, especially because you can see glimpses of the flags in the background. Really well done. -Hugh

Hi Mark,
I am glad I discovered your pictures, but I am not at home right now ( Barcelona) I promise to look better when possible.
But here is a remarkable one, which could become a front page as a journalistic picture: All works well here, the main portrait and the others which build a wonderful DOF background.
Many thanks by the way - Izzet

I think we see the world in a very similliar way. I liked the photojournalims energy in this photograph, her worried eyes, and the life of the scene that you captured. Tells a history, and that's what photography is about in my world. A way of comunicate above words! Really like dyour work!

Strong capture... I can feel the tension. Funny how peace-protests can get violent... :-)
I feel the compo would have benefited if you placed the woman along the thirds of the image, a bit more off-center. That's the classical rule and I think it works tremendously. I always try to keep that in mind when composing (or that second-hand composing called cropping).
But of course, that doesn't always work, it depends on what would have to be left out (or added in) with a different compo... :-)
