Choosing my religion, a photo from Rome, Lazio

Photographer's Note

Every Sunday, in Rome, you can choose which religion to follow...this is true especially in Testaccio, which is where I took this pic, a district of Rome that houses since 1969 the "Roma Club Testaccio", maybe the most important supporter group of the namesake football team (which, also, was founded just in Testaccio in 1927). In the background, you can see "the other religion" I am talking about: it's the church of Sant'Anselmo (1892-1896), located in another district, Ripa.

A Roma ogni Domenica in molti si trovano a dover scegliere a quale Dio affidarsi...il dubbio � amletico: Dio o Totti? Questo vale soprattutto a Testaccio, dove vi � la sede del Roma Club pi� importante della squadra, quartiere dove la "Magica" nacque nel 1927. Sullo sfondo � l'altro lato del "dubbio", ossia la chiesa di Sant'Anselmo, che per� si trova nel Rione Ripa, proprio di fronte a Testaccio.
ps. se proprio lo volete sapere, non sono un tifoso romanista...pensate un po'!

You have "read" really well the reality!!

A nice comparison and a point of view to contrast both "religions"...Yes this time football is like a very great religion!!

Hello Rikk! Yes football :))) but I must admit I hardly know who plays against whom in my country but what scares me how many times it is not peaceful and many plays end with chaos. I remember our neighbour sending his family to church each Sunday whereas he left for the football club and did not come back until his wife had made dinner :))) My father on the other hand was already cooking our Sunday meal (most men had no idea how to cook an egg in these days) when we were little but maybe he was a little jealous of the freedom his Italian neigbour had. la foto � bella, ben architettata e densa di quesiti: non ci si ferma solo ad ammirarne l'accostamento ma ci si interroga sulla funzione che queste religioni hanno sulla nostra vita quotidiana. Un ottimo esempio di foto scattata non solo per ragioni estetiche!

Ciao Rikk,il calcio non e' oggetto di fotografia sovente in questo sito..tu hai fatto una specie di patto bipartisan...mezza squadra e mezzo panorama..e devo dire che il risultato e' davvero molto intrigante.Adesso pero' devi completare l'opera e dirci per quale squadra tieni..hehhe....Juve ovviamente vero? Ah, il mitico Testaccio... Dove Fulvio Bernardini palleggiava sontuoso, come scriveva una volta il grande Vladimiro Caminiti. Adesso invece i giornalisti si esprimono in una specie di dialetto saraceno, in pratica il loro lessico e` inferiore a quello di uno spazzino cingalese a Torino da 2 settimane. Un'ottima composizione, mi piacciono un sacco sia l'idea di base riguardante la contrapposizione "religiosa", sia l'esecuzione. Prospettiva e colori da manuale, bravo! Buona giornata, a presto. Sono molto felice di vedere questa fotografia perch� ho preso quasi la stessa camminando nel Testaccio ma io lo hanno completamente mancato (sovraesposta) ma lo ho visto soltanto sul computer. Allora ci� mi fa realmente piacere di vedere queste superbie colori.

davvero complimenti... certo il mio umore, da vero Romanista non � in questi giorni il massimo, ma questa foto mi riaccende l'animo. Per la fede giallorossa, ma soprattutto per il tuo ottimo lavoro nella resa dei colori e nel mettere in contrasto i due soggetti. Veramente una foto che cattura, a prescindere ovviamente dal tifo calcistico. Ciao
