''Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso (Italian: Eremo di Santa Caterina del Sasso) is a Roman Catholic monastery located in the municipality of Leggiuno, in the Province of Varese and the region of Lombardy, Italy. It is perched on a rocky ridge on the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore.

The monastery can be reached on foot by descending down a long winding stairway or by taking an elevator or by a number of ferry services or boats that dock at the pier.

The construction of the monastery dates from the 14th century, although the more recent frescos are from the 19th century. It consists of three buildings: the southern convent, the convent and the main church. In 1914 it was declared a national monument.''

Fantastique image et compo quelle vue au travers de ce colonnes et arche de l'嶲lise avec les b^'bateaux blancs ce bleu profond du lac et les montagnes en fond avec ce ciel tout pur superbe.

I like this point of view, providing an impressive depth of field. I also like the bold perspective. And the two sailing boats are an extra feature to this postcard.

Cares for nice depth and perspective, wonderful panorama view.

del lago che fa da sfondo � una meraviglia.

A very fine view from this building where all the pillars play an important role in the composition. The background blue landscape with the white boats add an extra dimension to the scene. Excellent!

What a beautiful setting for this hermitage, at a certain height so that the view of the lake and the mountains at the other side is really magnificent.
Especially the view from under the arcade is wonderful.

I like this image very much. The composition is interesting with the use of the diagonal of the building. The light management is excellent with lovely light and shadow areas, and the clarity and colours are superb. I love the view through to the distant mountains.
