Madonna and Child
Work of the Master of San Ponziano, polychrome wooden sculpture, dates back to around 1300 - 1310, if its origin is unknown, it is currently at the Bardini Museum in Florence. It is practically identical to the Madonna di Belfiore, preserved in the Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto. The Virgin's robe is of the same silver velvet, the Child has the same face and always holds a book in his hand, this time green.
The back of the throne has very similar decorations, it is clear that the statues are not only the work of the same artist but are also close from a chronological point of view.

Hello Silvio, once again a very beautiful sculpture. How fascinating it is in its resemblance to the sculpture in Spoleto. The chair is almost identical in the pattern.

Silvio, this value artwork made in polychrome wood represents Madonna with child. She is seated on a decorated throne, she wears a crown and the baby is on her knees. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello Silvio, It is a quite large gallery of the Gothic Madonnas with the child. This one is also beautiful. Again nice throne. Now the museums are closed :(.

I remember visiting the Bardini Museum but sadly, I don't remember this beautiful sculpture.It is a fine sculpture and shown in sharp details from your photograph. You have even been able to reveal the smoothness of the surfaces.

I suppose, we could distinguish the age from the costumes that the Madonna and Christ child are wearing. I don't suppose these are representative of the clothing of Biblical Times and in those days, people almost always wore sandals.

The exposure without flash has come out really well that you have achieved visibility of detail all round with nice shades and lovely looking natural colour. An illustration of fine religious sculptures supported by good description. Excellent capture

the aspect of this madonna and the previous one are similar. the shapes of the mantle looks those ones in modernist sculptures. very beautiful piece of art. TFS.
