Photographer's Note

Today I show you something from the inner courtyard. These are the long arches that surround the courtyard, on the left are the doors of the friars' cells. But they are not the usual small cells, each friar had a real apartment with patio, garden with a water well, as you can see in the 2 WS. Definitely a nice place to live in absolute peace.

Oggi vi mostro qualcosa dal cortile interno. Queste sono le lunghe arcate che circondano il cortile, sulla sinistra ci sono le porte delle celle dei frati. Ma non sono le solite piccole celle, ogni frate disponeva di un vero e proprio appartamento con patio, giardino con un pozzo d'acqua, come potete vedere nei 2 WS. Sicuramente un bel posto per vivere nella pace assoluta.

La suite des arches donne du dynamisme � la sc鋝e. La prise de vue permet de voir les d彋ails des colonnes et des arches. La lumi鋨e fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne soir嶪.

Ciao Caro Luciano,

When you see a scene like this, with repeating pillars and arches, with a focal door at the end, it is a must for a photographer! The strong light on the pillars has been coped with well.

This is the upper class monastery! If you want to be a monk, then a place which gives you an apartment, with a private garden, has to be preferred to one where you get a single, cramped cell!

The long line of columns create fine depth. It looks like a magnificent building even though it seems to need some restoration. The WS are interesting for showing such big and nice rooms for the friars. I would imagine some people from the outside may have regarded them as much too comfortable for real monks. ;-)

A humble arcade, but with an attractive wall painting on its far end (a shield maybe).
The set of pillars offer a fine returning pattern and a sense of depth to the photo, with side light "painted" half of each column.

Good report on the living quarters of these brothers.
A bit spartan but livable.
Moreover, on coming out, they immediately arrived in the beautiful portico and courtyard.

I liked the repetition of these arches and columns, but the mural above the door looks fabulous too. looks like the friars have a very simple room. I presume there are few people dedicated to such religious life nowadays.the western world lives a not religious phase.

Oh Yes, I do like the inner courtyard very much.
It's so peaceful and with a private small garden ... this is a first-class monastery.
This picture with the long pillars and arches creating a sense of 'longingness' of human presence ... like it used to be.
I like the repeating 'railings' effect above , very unusual ... I wonder what's that for. Could it be for the monks to hang theirs robes to dry :-)
Ha!ha!ha! now I know why it's private ... I see there is no door in the room ( WS1 ). I think the single bed is a bit too small and uncomfortable but the garden definitely make up for it.
I also see a grumpy face in WS2. Look-like someone I knew here :-)

Bella foto, composizione quasi interamente fatta dai toni del bianco. Un posto molto bello e interessante, l'Italia � davvero una delle pi� grandi collezioni al mondo per chi ama gli edifici storici e interessanti.

Come hai detto, il luogo era molto confortevole e piacevole per i Frati. D'altra parte, la vita di un Frate non deve essere facile, per le privazioni imposte a chi segue questa strada.

Fantastic composition, with this arcaded wing on one side of the cloister, simple and elegant arches, a very beautiful sequence of columns with lights and shadows.

this arcade passage reminds me some places in Krakow, which I believe was also designed by Italian architects.
Nice repeated motif of the column. The light enters the scene sparingly but enough to decorate it nicely.
