Scuola Normale Superiore, a photo from Pisa, Tuscany

Photographer's Note

Not far from the square of miracles, there is another beautiful square in Pisa, where the beauty of the Scuola Normale stands out, which carries out both ordinary (bachelor's and master's degree) and specialization training activities. The institute was born thanks to the Napoleonic decree of October 18, 1810, relating to the "public education establishments" in Tuscany - a province of the French Empire starting from 1807 - which established the institution in Pisa of an "academic boarding house" for students university students. Twenty-five places in the boarding house were put up for competition for students of the faculties of Arts and Sciences, to create a branch of the 丱ole norma sup廨ieure in Paris for countries where the use of the Italian language was authorized. Non lontano dalla piazza dei miracoli, si trova un'altra bellissima piazza a Pisa, dove spicca la bellezza della Scuola Normale , che svolge attivit� di formazione, sia di tipo ordinario (laurea triennale e laurea magistrale) sia di perfezionamento. L'istituto nacque grazie al decreto napoleonico del 18 ottobre 1810, relativo agli 𦽳tabilimenti di istruzione pubblica� in Toscana � provincia dell'impero francese a partire dal 1807 � che stabil� l'istituzione a Pisa di un "pensionato accademico" per gli studenti universitari. Venticinque posti del pensionato vennero messi a concorso per studenti delle facolt� di Lettere e Scienze, per creare una succursale dell'丱ole normale sup廨ieure di Parigi per i paesi in cui era autorizzato l'uso della lingua italiana. Ciao Luciano, gran bello questo palazzone magnificamente decorato che racchiude quella che forse � la pi� celebre universit� italiana. Molto bella anche la vista ravvicinata ricca di dettagli, grazie per le due belle foto, bravo, noi in Umbria siamo ancora di colore arancione e io continuo a far giretti per il territorio comunale, pazienza, ciao Silvio

Hello Luciano, Of course, I was here with Carlo and Christina, and a few times. Piazza dei Cavalieri is my favorite place in Pisa. Impressive facade. Good symmetrical composition.

Hello Luciano,
This is quite a palace, far more beautiful than any school of any kind I ever went to. The WS shows us the marvellous decorations in greater details. You had a pleasant subdued light and the colours turned out well. The couple standing close to you adorn the foreground and help to underscore the depth of the photo.

This is a lovely building, with a fascinating history, according to your notes.
I really like how you have included the students, offering an off-centre focal point to your otherwise very symmetrical composition.
The building looks superb, with recessed bust and decorative stonework.
I'm so glad that you added a close-up, as a w/s, for the details of the decorations are even better than I would have imagined.

few years ago there was a "escola normal" in most of brazilian cities, nowadays the name was abandoned.
amazing this fa蓷de and I am sad because I didn't see it while in pisa. marvelous drawings between the windows and even sculptures attached to the fa蓷de. TFS.

I remember this building with its decorated facade, coming through narrow alleys from the tower and entaer the large (surprising) piazza in front here.
Marvelous view from a fair distant POV to include its whole width.

Oops! A square that I have missed during my very short visit of Pisa.
But then I didn't know Pisa and the places Carlo and you have shown here.
Your closer view in the WS shows the fantastically decorated facade better in detail.
I will have to remember this square and building for later.

Sensational building of remarkable size and a marvel like this painted all its facade, in the WS the detail is good, elegant that double staircase, I do not know if it is an optical effect but it seems that the roof curves a little in its central part.
Good sharpness, brightness, color and the chosen composition is excellent.
