Casale di Barattano
The imposing farmhouse rises above the castle of Barattano, which you can see in the WS.
In the Gualdese castles system, Barattano is the most marked archetype. It was built in the 13th century with the name of Villa S. Angelo in Piscina, probably fortified shortly thereafter. It is said that the current name was given "for the quality of the fraudulent people who lived there". In 1261 Filippo di Barattano was captain of the people in Todi during the podesta of Filippo degli Ugoni from Brescia. it was then surrounded, in 1452, by a mighty wall structure.
In 1540 the castle sent a worker to Perugia for the construction of the Rocca Paolina. The castle remained for centuries under the influence of Todi: in 1802 it was united with Gualdo Cattaneo, in 1815 with San Terenziano, and then in 1861 again with Gualdo Cattaneo.

Hello Silvio,
The WS shows a very attractive view and could easily have been a main post. On the other hand you have shown many similar photos, whereas this building is a bit different. At first look it seems to be in a fairly good conditions, but the plants growing through the wall, the broken windows and the damaged roof tell a different story. But it must have looked good before it was abandoned, and the photo is well taken with superb light and colours.

I look to your WS picture, maybe I would this use as main picture, but this is the choose of the photographer.
Nice detailed picture with high sharpness and clarity.
Composition and presentation are nice but also qualitative nice.

Two fine photographs, highly detailed.
This one shows a very beautiful villa. What a fine home it could make for someone!
With a cursory look, the building looks fine but then your details reveal plants growing from the walls, missing slates from the roof and missing windows.

I wonder how difficult it would be to repair it!
