Photographer's Note
We were all ready to drive up the extremely steep road to the well known 2999m Tre cime di Lavaredo/Drei- Zinnen, the triple rock formation in the centre of the Dolomites.
In no time youre high up into heaven, about half an hour.
Once arriving at the top,it started to rain like hell
and we were all covered into the grey clouds.
After sheltering in the car for at least an hour or so
the sun came back and the clouds were specteculair.
We started walking around the Zinnen and the scenery was great, well for us.....
My 14 year old daughter and her friend were more into their mobile phones, they where bored and decited to go back to the car for a drink,a snack and more "social- networking"".
I saw them walking away in the distance, against the
background of Dolomites.....
Different generations with different interests ;]]....

Dag Jan,
Vele groeten, Paul

Greetings Jan,
What an astonishingly beautiful view, and photographed to perfection. The two young women strolling on the side are perfectly placed, and serve both as scale and to provide a smidgeon of humanity to the rugged and barren peaks. Do you think your daughter and her friend were actually bored, with a backdrop of vertical peaks. I am certain that his photo will become a classic on TE, and gain the attention that it deserves.
Warm regards,
Bulent

HI Jan,
delightful composition, light, clarity and colours are fantastic. Adding your daughter and her friend is a great idea as it creates nice DOF and adds scale to the photograph.
Excellent shot!

Hi Jan,

Hello Jan,
A marvellous scenery, looking almost unreal. The piece of green in the lower corner makes a great contrast to the grey mountainsides and the grey clouds, and the two persons provide life and explain the dimensions. There is a very fine blend of light and shades among the rugged mountains.

Gert

Hello Jan ,
I really like this shot and the note . How can be bored , with such a gorgeous view , as others says ?
I can't explain that , but it is the same with my daughter who's 15 . May be they will be happy to see the pictures a few years later :)
The two girls are an important element of this outstanding composition . But the view of these mountains (the most beautiful ones in the world) , is awesome . Great light . And the superb clouds add to the mood .

Hello Jan,
what to say... the picture is just great. Amazing landscape, perfect composition with the two girls to add the scale. But the story in your note is driving me crazy. Unfortunately it happens too often, the same network that allows us to see the beauty of the world in the pictures makes the others blind.
Best regards

What a beautiful place to go walking, an impressive mountains with a great background reveals all of the detail. Well balanced picture, the lovely cloud does seem to draw a little attention though. Amazing location and so majestic a real stand out shot and I like the sence of scale given with the green patch is lovely addition. Great colours, textures and lighting/shadows and nicely composed rugged beauty. You have captured the full majesty of the location. Superb climbing and very photogenic. Great capture. Congrats

Dag Jan,
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Prettig weekend,
John.

Emilius

HI Jan, These Dolomites are awesome, you have captured them very well, good natural looking colour, excellent detail & good light. Nice the inclusion of the two walkers in the frame who are almost insignificant except for the fact that they highlight the gigantic size of these Alps. Beautiful display of nature.

Quel bel endroit Jan,
Regards.
Daniel.

Hi Jan
Fantastic, of course chatting on the phone is more interesting than these rocks, ha ha. They will change their minds as they get older.....maybe.
Awesome mountains and great composition, especially with the kids walking. Beautiful place.

Hallo Jan,
The light is wonderful, the detail impeccable and the framing has attractive balance with the triangle of green in the lower right and the thunderheads on the upper left. The girls on the path look like they're headed into a cataclysm while the sunlight and shadow add to the drama.

Hallo Jan,
Vriendelijke groeten,

Hello Jan,
The two girls show us the massive presence of the mountains, and this is reinforced by the colors (vivid in the foreground, paler in the background).
Very nice shot.

Hi Jan
its really important that you included the two people on the right, having that size perspective is key to the overall scene.
I like too, that the greenery along the bottom pops out in contrast to the greys eleswhere.
nice shot.
have yourself a great day

Hi Jan!
What a fabulous and dramatic capture of the Dolomites! Too bad about the weather, but your patience finally paid off! I loved your story about your teenagers! My feeling is that with nature; you either "get it" or you don't. Like you say, maybe in time they will, hehe. A great photo, and I suppose in the end your daughter and friend did make a great contribution, adding the little human interest in the corner really enhances the photo! Fine work as always, warm regards,
Steve

A very nice perspective, with the two tiny figures against the huge mountains.
As my daughter is 14 I understand very well the situation... I have never been around the 3 Cime di Lavaredo. I know it is a very beautiful spot in the Dolomiti.

Hey Jan,
Anyone who's tried to take a 14 year old on holiday can relate to your story, which made me laugh out loud. But how wonderful that you caught this beautiful photo to illustrate your anecdote! Absolutely spectacular, and particularly effective in combination with your story.

Hi Jan,
oh yes! :) "Different generations with different interests" how well I know it!
Excellent photo, very beautiful mountains... and the moment which you chose to include the girls walking away was also chosen perfectly. By the way, without the girls the place would look different.... not so grand, maybe?:)
