Verona Arena II, a photo from Verona, Veneto

Photographer's Note

This is possibly the first nocturnal upload to TE of Verona Arena at night. I had been travelling all day from Siena to Bologna then north and did not arrive until early evening. The artificial pink lighting has not been photoshopped or enhanced in any way.

It was built in the 1st century AD & is still being used, mostly for Opera performances. Verona is a nice town with around 260,000 people and well worth a 2-3 days visit.

marvelous pink illumination upon the big and well preserved arena, Chris.
I had been four times to Verona - but always during daytime, and saw this amphetatre with no lights upon, though it was interesting enough to admire.

Rather bizarre to see this ancient arena dressed in pink. Your exposure is spot on to capture the colours and textures whilst still allowing detail in the foreground.

A special choice to choose pink lighting, but I have to say that I find it attractive.
As is often the case here, it is fun to watch all the people in front of the arena.

Hello Chris,
The pink tones of the ancient amphitheatre are wonderful, I bet the Romans never saw it like this! The people in the foreground animate the scene and convey a relaxed and appealing evening mood. The sharpness and clarity are superb.

A black night sky, the perfect background for this special lighting.
The people are almost silhouetted against their pink background.

At first sight, I thought it was the Colosseum, although with a further look, one can see it's not as big.
The illumination is quite impressive, and it must be wonderful to watch a show in this antique monument.
It does all right for a Christmas picture too, even if it was taken in October.

Hello Chris, Interesting pink light on the arena of Verona. Verona is my favorite city. I also was there in the evening, probably I have pictures but I haven't posted them. But there was not such a funny light.

verona was in the beginning of my journey across italy. I visited this arena during the day, but at night, with this pink lights you got a special compo. very beautiful and well done.
