Ponte Pietra, a photo from Verona, Veneto

Photographer's Note

A misty view on a rainy Autumn day in Verona, taken from the archaeological museum behind the semi circular amphitheatre. The bg bridge spanning the Adige River is the Ponte Pietra and was built in 100 BC during ancient Roman times. Sadly, it was destroyed in WWII by the retreating Germans, along with the Castle Bridge, but both were faithfully rebuilt in 1957 using many of the original stones.

Chris, magnificent postcard taken in Verona. Good idea to use the same stones to rebuild that very old bridge crossing the Adige river. Some ruins dating from the Antiquity appears in the fg whereas the city orange roofs can be seen on the opposite bank. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello Chris,
You didn't have the best weather conditions but still managed a good photo from this legendary city. The river is lined by a lot of beautiful buildings and the bridge looks like it was rebuilt to its former glory. The elevated angle provided you with a fine view.

Hello Chris,
The weather wasn't very good, a rainy and misty day, but the town looks wonderful still. The houses and the trees also managed to get some fine colours as well and the bridge is well placed in the centre of the composition.

Very different to the usual Verona photos. A good view of ruins, river and bridge.
We've been packed ready to evacuate but a southerly wind has just come through which should turn our nearest fire back on itself.

Hello dear Chris, Verona is my favourite city in Italy. It is less visited than Venice, Rome or Florence but not less attractive. I didn't know this POV. Fantastic view from above. Composition, sharpness, colors are all fantastic.

Unusual sight from Verona, Chris.
I was four different times in this town - but never knew about the tower where you taken this picture, which shows a colorful & beautiful part of town and the river.
