Photographer's Note

Bard is a village re-built first on the middle age to support the transportation of any kind of merchandises from and to the Aosta Valley.
A wide number of houses are built over a lot of Roman walls, as a sign that Romans were using this valley since a long time.

After the re-builging, the village was closed by two main doors (East and West) to better control the intense traffic of merchandises and to impose a levy on all of them.

Subsequently, at the beginning of 1800, a huge fortress was built, and this might be the object of next post.
