Castello di San Giacomo – Spoleto (PG)
San Giacomo di Spoleto, formerly San Giacomo di Poreta, is an ancient villa on the Spoleto plain, which in the past was located in the old territory of Poreta.
The inhabited center arose and expanded as an open villa, without walls, along the road that from Spoleto winded north towards the Fonti del Clitunno, a road that took on a completely primary interest with the abandonment of the ancient Roman diverticulum which it ran, still in the plain, but further west.
The villa soon became a fundamentally important road junction where roads from the many castles of the plains and surrounding hills also converged.
It is indeed probable that the first inhabited nucleus of San Giacomo arose as a consequence of the traffic that was possible on that site.
The first certain information dates back to the end of the thirteenth century, it is probable that the first houses were built around the Church of San Giacomo, already attested by the Pelosius Code, and to the hospital that had sprung up next to it to give help and aid to the numerous travelers, pilgrims and traders who passed through it, creating a small nucleus, which in 1279 had just 14 fires and depended on the nearby Poreta castle.

Hello Silvio,
A very nice view of the village between the fields and the mountains. The green and brown areas make the foreground attractive. The village seems to be a mixture of old and new. The photo is very clear and sharp.

Hi Silvio,
The length of the fields is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the mountains, of the buildings and of the church. The light is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Hi Silvio,
A well made composition with 3 parts, the town like focal point and the colorful FG, good BG with these slopes and the dark tone, good contrast effect, tfs.

Silvio, this viewpoint allows to admire this little town from far. It is located at the foot of hills. Fields and hedges surround the settlement. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello Silvio,
Another lovely Italian rural landscape with very good sharpness. The fence at left adds linear perspective. Well composed using the rule of thirds. Tfs!
