Photographer's Note
Castello di Perchia – Spoleto (PG)
Its existence is documented as a fortified center by a parchment of the Municipality of Spoleto from 1380.
However, the site had been inhabited since Roman times, when a vicus or villa stood there.
Then in medieval times the presence of the church put in place a process of attraction and appeal of the surrounding population, which may have led to the birth of a village, called San Giovanni de Panaria.
Panaria is mentioned in a series of documents from the 13th century, including an act dated 9 September 1243, in which the boundaries between the Spoleto district and Terre Arnolfe were defined following the donations of Federico II, among the witnesses there is also a Raynucius de villa Panarie.
From this moment the villa began to be disputed between Spoleto and Terre Arnolfe.TO FIND OUT MORE: CASTELLO DI PERCHIA

Silvio, this town has kept its medieval charm with its walls made in stone. The arches are old and superb. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Ciao Caro Silvio,
A dual aspect, which archway to explore!
Both exits offer worn, broken steps, nicely captured though in deep shade.
I think the first avenue has to be to left, as that welcomes us with sunshine!
Again, you capture the character of these ancient alleys, with fine details and good composition.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Silvio
I wonder what stories this ancient place could tell that looks so isolated from outside world, certainly a wonderful general look of degeneration. Super detailed what I like about this is that you can see some of the imperfection and the rustic grittiness of both the wall and the floor definitely looks like it has seen better days. Thanks for posting and your well written narratives. Congrats
Best regards

Hi Silvio,
You had a good idea to use the arch to frame the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the arches and of the building. Have a nice day.

Hello Silvio!
I noticed that you published many religious themes recently, and prayers seem very urgent and necessary. Stay at home and continue publishing your arcs and arches!

Hello Silvio,
A great vertical composition for these two arches in the narrow streets. I really like the play of light and shadows here and the textures of the old stone walls look good and sharp as well.

Buon weekend,Luciano.

Hi Silvio
An scene empty of people but I suspect that this would always be so. A good view of a decaying castello.

Hello Silvio, you keep discovering these quiet corners of the towns and villages that you visit.
The stonework speaks of better days, so we can only imagine how it was when at its best.
Good sharp shot.
Informative notes.
Kind regards, Jean.
