Photographer's Note
Rocca Flea, formerly known as Arx Major Terre Gualdi, stands at the top of Gualdo Tadino, Umbria.
It is one example of Italian fortified architecture of the Middle Ages. The fortress was built incorporating an ancient place of worship dedicated to the Archangel Michael founded in the Lombard period (sec. VIII-IX), called Sant'Angelo Flea. At the end of the tenth century the Rocca Flea would be included in the possessions of Count Vico said Wolf, son of the Count of Nocera. In 1177 he was in possession of Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, which however returned to the papacy in 1198. On 25 July 1208 the consuls of the free town of Gualdo submitted themselves to the protection of the close and strong town of Perugia, which is why this controversy centuries the Papacy.
Gualdo in 1237 was destroyed by a raging fire; Emperor Frederick II became actively for its reconstruction and the Rocca Flea for the occasion was the subject of renovations and expansions. The construction of the central tower, the keep, dates back to 1350, during the period of the domination of Perugia Gualdo, always in the fourteenth century were made tweaks from Biordo Michelotti. In 1499 the city of Gualdo and Rocca Flea were assigned by Pope Alexander VI's famous daughter Lucrezia Borgia. In 1512 the fortress was in the hands of Perugia Giampaolo captains and Gentile Baglioni, but soon was withdrawn from the government of the papal legate of that city and erected in independent Legation, ruled by a cardinal under the direct authority of the Apostolic Chamber.
From 1587 to 1798 Gualdo falls in the anonymity of the province, the Rock not housed more a court and was used in part to lay prison.
After 1860 with the advent of the Kingdom of Italy, the whole complex was reduced to the district prison. Currently the Flea Rocca houses the Civic Museum of Gualdo Tadino, houses the Antiquarium of the territory and in the rooms display historical testimonials of ceramics Gualdese.

Hello Silvio,
The illuminated white fortress stands out brightly in the rather dark surroundings during the blue hour. The beauty of the buildings in enhanced by the dark green and grey tones surrounding it. The path leads us up to the fortress, which you placed slightly to the side.
Kind regards,
Gert

Ciao Caro Silvio,
THis is a fine blue hour photograph,
The time of day has created some very distinct contrasts, the garden and hillside are quite shaded whilst the fortified building is pale and illuminated by the artificial light, giving an immediate contrast!
You've created a fine composition, using the rule of thirds.
Keep safe,
Bev :-)

Hi Silvio,
The mountain and the trees are framing well the building. The point of view is showing the details of the Civc Museum of Gualdo Tadino. The blue hour light has aspecial effect on the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Silvio,
The castle is illuminated so wonderfully that the walls and towers get a silver quality, which makes them stand out so well from the background. I really like the narrow path in the foreground as well, which leads the eye so well to the building.

Hi Silvio
I wonder how they've maintained the same white colour for so long, and how well the fortress stands out against the blue hour setting. You did well with clarity, detail aplenty with excellent foreground base. Another lovely shot and another journey for us to learn appreciate history, Congrats
Best regards

Hello Silvio, a good leading in line as the path takes us to the fortress. The light colour of the stone stands out in this light, as the evening comes.
All in very good sharpness.
Thanks for sharing this gem.
Kind regards, Jean.
