Photographer's Note

Castel San Giovanni - Castel Ritaldi (PG)rnrnHistoryrnrnThe origins are very ancient, but without written documentation until the thirteenth century.rnThe place was probably already inhabited in Roman times and continued to be so even in the early Middle Ages. In ancient documents it is mentioned as San Giovanni di Porcaria, later as San Giovani di Botonta, a term that indicates border, and which could attest to the probable existence of a Lombard fortification.
