Photographer's Note
This is a General view of Genoa, Italy's largest port city and home of Christopher Columbus (of New World Discovery Fame for those of you who were sleeping through history class)
Through the middle ages it was one of the two most powerful Italian City states rivaling Venice and at permanent war with Venice. It has one of the largest old towns in Europe. A particular aspect of it is that the old town is very long and narrow, as people seem to want to live close to the harbour were economic activities went on.
Where the octopus like metalic sculpture is, its the Porto Antico, an urban redevelpment zone where old wharehouses have been converted to restaurants and stores.
To get this picture I walked along the main road and then started climbing up some stairs, through a park and then behind through a dodgy neighborhood,
I think the view was worth it

Bella foto Daniel!
the POV is really fascinating and 360° around the city!
the Octopus is called in Italian Bigo and was built for the 1992 Cristoforo Colombo Celebration.
thanks, ciao

Salut Daniel
A superb pov, overlooking the whole harbour of Genoa. I like the sweeping curves of the buildings across the frame. C'est tres bon!

Hello Daniel.

Beau travail
Amicalement

The view is fantastic, as well as the colours. There are so much details to explore. Nice, but busy city scenes for the eyes :)

Hi Daniel,
Merci

I love this city, however, I haven't got a change to spend there more that one day, unfortunately. I have a weekness for seaside cities.

I believe that it has been definitively proven that Cristobal Colon (Christopher Columbus) was not Italian, but came from what is now Spain --most likely Barcelona in Catalonia. There was a Genoese "Colombo" who was a tailor, but it has been demonstrated convincingly that he was certainly not the navegator and explorer who sailed for the Queen of Castille.

I like how you provide a zig-zag for us to follow up into your photo, Daniel. Very effective composition. This IS a very nice view, and I love how so many revealing details are present.

Salut Daniel,
Bonne journee,

Nice panorama, Daniel. Good composition and perspective. I like the contrast of modern highway in the middle of the old city.
Thanks,
