Photographer's Note
This picture was taken on the Via Appia in Rome. This used to be the main road loading to the city in Roman times, and the marks made by the carriages are still visible, having worn out the stones. The place is quite out of the way for the majority of tourist and it is quite quiet. From there you can get a pretty view on the old aquaduct as wellm and it is very close to the old catacombs. Although it is supposed to be pietonal, you still have to give way to some cars. Funny what these old stones still have to go through!

Hi Marie, very good pov, it looks like the highway to darkness.. I like the random shapes of the pavement, I guess the lighting was a bit harsh at the time to produce strong shadows.. tfs

I love Italy. I walked there. I've read QUO VADIS DOMINE on the temole's plaque... I couldn't miss this one for live.
Thanks Marie

Bonsoir Marie,
Très jolie photo avec une note intéressante. On se rend bien compte que voyager à cette époque en char n'était pas très confortable ni rapide. Je n'ai jamais vu en France de voie romaine aussi bien conservée.
Amicalement.

Good composition and interesting note with it. I recall this from learning latin many years ago. Good to see the actual road, though it look like it would be very bumpy in a chariot. Well shown to TE.

Hi Marie,
I really like this pic. The vivid green and the way it contrasts with the Roman road is great. Your point of view is good and creates a nice, eye-catching perspective and the quality of your photography is right on the mark! The image is well composed, well lit, and it's beautifully sharp. Also, your note is very informative and, in the spirit of this website, I've learned something from this posting.
Great job! :-)
Hugs,
Tony
