Photographer's Note

"Next year I'll know better!"
That's what I end up saying each year I attend the yearly national celebrations held in Luxembourg-city on the 22nd of June. Either I've gotten stuck in the glorious crowds that pack up into the city-center or then, like this year again, I find myself down-wind from the big fireworks that lift off close to midnight on the 22nd of June.

I wanted to get an unusual angle on the fireworks and headed down with some friends to the Petrusse valley-park that surrounds the city (ancient fortress). From there I hoped to catch a picture of the Pont Adolphe and all the dozens of fireworks that lift off it.
Unfortunately, as you can see, the most I saw that night during the fireworks was bright light bathed in heavy smoke. Luckily the trees sheltered us from the falling debris (some of which had parachutes!).

The fireworks are accompanied by very loud music played on very big loudspeakers on the sides of the bridge. So, while you are watching a carefully orchestrated show of light, your ears also get treated with some pleasurable sounds (unless you stand close to the loudspeakers...).
I took about 90 pictures and a number of them are ok, but not a single one came out as wonderful as I would have hoped. The thick smoke had probably its role to play in my slight deception.
I'll probably upload one or another in the coming days where you can actually see the bridge as well.

I didn't do anything with the picture besides for (resizing and) saving it for the web in PS (and hence fixing it a little to fit what it was like in its original version).

An advance Thank You to all those amongst you who take the time to criticize and/or leave a comment!
