‘Ohrid - Time to put on your blue hour shoes’
Some people don't like it too much but I know TE has some ardent lovers of the blue hour.
So it's time again for a blue hour walk, this time through old Ohrid.
I can't explain why but from my 4 and 1/2 month journey through Asia two years ago I don’t have too much pictures taken during the blue hour.
Also when I was in South India a little longer ago, I hardly saw there a period of time that was eligible for such photos.
In contrast, I have blue hour pictures of about every place I visited in North Macedonia.
As I mentioned before, I didn't have a tripod with me. You will definitely notice that in the photos.
-----------
My main picture shows the House of the Kanevce Family in the old town near the Sveta Sofija Church (Church of Saint Sofia).
The House of the Kanevce Family has a narrow base and extends upwards where there is a large reception room on the top floor.
That room is called the čardak.
The čardak is typical of the Christian houses in old Ohrid.
Religious holidays and weddings were celebrated in that room. This out of sight of the local Ottoman authorities.

Hello Paul,
Blue hour needs lot's of patient, and as a tourist I found out that did not have enough time to carry out such a mission.
Wonderful three photos with this subject. Prominently within the frame, shown here the building on the main photo.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hello Paul,
You show us an amazing collection of well exposed and sharp, hand-held blue hour photos. I would judge them all as equally attractive, so the main reason for your choice of main photo would be that it's the only one that doesn't show a church. As compositions at least the first two workshops are just as good and both have an exciting atmosphere. For most members of this site these photos would have done well for five main posts.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Paul,
Great series of blue hour photos.
Perfect timing each time with perfect color and brightness of the blue hour sky!
For the main one I see you selected that traditional style which you mentioned before.
I think people are not divided into those who like and those who don't like blue hour. But there are those who know how to do it (and you are the maser of it clearly) and those who don't.
Excellent series,
M

Bonjour Paul,
La présence des arbustes donne une touche de nature à la scène. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de la maison aux fenêtres illuminées. La lumière de l'heure bleue a un effet spécial sur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hi Paul
Whilst I don't recall this particular building in Ohrid, I enjoyed my time there and the Ottoman style of architecture with the overhangs seen here is very distinctive. The blue hour enhances the shot. Tfs!

Hallo Paul,
Een heel mooie, donkerblauwe avondlucht hier, die ook een goede achtergrond is voor de warme tinten van de huizen en ramen. De huizen zien er ook wel bijzonder uit doordat de begane grond smaller is dan de hoogste verdieping.

Hello Paul, five excellent shots, any of which would be worthy of being a main post.
The buildings that you have selected all have distinctive features, and all look wonderful in the ‘blue hour’ setting.
This house in the main post is quite unusual, I have never seen one like this before.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Paul,
As hand-held photographs, taken during blue hour, these are very good. It must have been difficult to decide which to use as a main one but, perhaps, this is example is a little different.
The house reminds me of a doll's house. It is curious how it survives so well when quite top heavy, (though you have explained the necessity for this upper floor).
In very old places in the U.K. you may find houses like this, allowing for a relatively wide passageway at ground level but more internal space for the house. They were real fire hazards because of the proximity to other buildings using lots of wood in their construction!
You show a fine eye for composition, as well as managing to combat the problem of noise.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
