Photographer's Note
Taken from the 6th floor of the aptly named Hotel Square. At left is the Stari Most (Stone Bridge), in the fg is a statue 14.5 metres high (not including the pedestal), and in the bg is the Archeology Museum of Macedonia FYR (Former Yugoslav Republic). Although it isn't specifically mentioned, probably not to offend Greece, it is believed to be Alexander the Great who came from neighboring Macedonia province in northern Greece.

Dobar dan.
Ziveo sam u Kumanovu i vise puta bio u Skopju.
Lep pogled na deo grada, dobar tekst ...
Lep pokazan deo grada, reka sa mostom i arhitektura, dobra ostrina, kontrast i perspektiva, lepe boje.
Dobra kompozicija, lepo uhvacen trenutak sa ljudima u jednom lepom danu sa suncem.
Lep deo grada i arhitektura.
Imajte lep i uspesan dan, sve najbolje u novoj nedelji koja je pocela, srecno.
Paja.
Good day.
I lived in Kumanovo and several times was in Skopje.
Nice view on the part of the city, a good text ...
Beautiful shown part of the city, the river with a bridge and architecture, good sharpness, contrast and perspective, beautiful colors.
Good composition, beautifully captured the moment with people in a beautiful day with the sun.
A nice part of the city and architecture.
Have a nice and successful day, all the best in the new week which began, good luck.
Paja.

Hello Chris,
The massive statue makes a superb focal point and is nicely counterbalanced by the colonnaded building in the background. Very well exposed with agreeable lights and colours and excellent colours. I seem to remember there was a massive earthquake in Skopje in the sixties, presumably much of this modern building work follows on from that as well as recovery from the war after the falling apart of Yugoslavia.

Hello Chris,
What a great aspect!
It is immediately engaging, as we look down on this interesting city, combining the old and the new in a gentle flow, with the bridge as a natural link.
The statue is awesome and probably viewed easier from your position than down in the square. It is perfectly placed in your frame for maximum impact.
Have a great week,
Bev :-)

This is an impressive POV, which you masterfully chosen, Chris.
Each monument is prominent by itself: The horse and rider statue, big square, the bridge, the pillars facade on the white marble shining building and the river crosses town.
The people and the flag added vivid scale to the whole. A pleasent to see a town not so known on TE.

Bonjour Chris,
La sculpture envoie mon regard au loin ce qui donne de la profondeur à la composition. La présence des gens anime la scène. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de la sculpture et des immeubles. La bonne luminosité fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne journée.

Hi Chris.
A fantastic composition, this rather unknown city in pictures .... is a very attractive image, with that mixture of buildings, the classicist Archaeological Museum, the beautiful square adorned with statues decorated the pavement so; also the pedestrian bridge and people adds a nice touch.
Very nice and effective color tones.
Good management brightness and sharpness.
Well done.
All the best and have a good start to the week.
Luis.

Hello Chris,
This is an interesting photo which confirms my guess that central Skopje has changed enormously in recent years. I can't say that I like very much what they have done, but it's an excellent photo, well balanced and with fine light and colours. I didn't realize that the government cared much whether it offended the Greeks. Isn't Skopje airport called Alexander the Great?
Best regards,
Gert

Bonjour Chris,
Il y a vraiment beaucoup de choses à regarder dans cette composition. J'aime le point de vue bien recherché qui nous donne l'impression de regarder par dessus l'épaule du cavalier pour admirer la ville en construction.
Amicalement

Hi Chris
well, I can honestly say that i've never seen this pov of the city before. I like it when we see more of the city views from these not-so-famous European cities compared to the Paris's and London's
at first, I thought that was an ice rink!
Boy was I wrong :)
there is so much to see and so much to investiage with this scene, so much going on. Alot of Fun to view it
cheers

Hello Chris,
Well, this square looks completely different at daylight.
I guess that it is located in the center of Skopje. If so, the capital isn't very big. A few blocks further you can see forested hills and behind them are mountains.
A very modern city center.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Chris,
Macedonia FYR is one of the rarely presented European countries I believe. I am ashamed to admit that except for some natural scenes I don't recall seeing any city photos even from the capital. I am glad that with your reportage you have filled that void.
Fantastic POV here which allowed you to compose the statue with this magnificent view. Little people make nice scale markers. This square looks really impressive from here with beautiful architecture and attractively paved square. And there is so much light .
Beautiful place! Excellent presentation!
