Photographer's Note
‘Prilep - Markovi Kuli’
This is a continuation of my previous photo about Markovi Kuli or the Towers of Marko.
Now mainly with views of the various ruins on the hill and no longer the view of the city of Prilep.
The landscape with large boulders also appealed to me.
Frankly, I had no preference for the main photo. I consider these pictures as a whole about Markovi Kuli and hope that those who are interested in it also look at the four pictures in the WS.
Perhaps you have a preference for one…
King Marko was a Macedonian king who died in 1395 fighting the Turks.
My guidebook (The Bradt Travel Guide) mentions that archaeological findings show that parts of the fortress date back to the Iron Age, the 3rd and 4th centuries BC and later periods during the Ottoman Empire.
However, most of what remains to be seen today is from medieval times.

Hello Paul
This is a nice quiet place to walk around and look for the various paths. All three pictures are interesting and charming no need to think which one is the best. beautiful light and colours.

Hello Paul,
I have seen all five photos, and I agree that they are all part of a longer story. Perhaps the main photo gives us the widest general view of the area, so it deserves its position. The area and location make me think (slightly) of the area outside Van in eastern Turkey with a ruined fortress on top of a hill and ruins of an ancient city below. As for WS #1 it's a disappointment that nobody was wearing red, and concerning WS #4 I prefer this kind of scenery to tropical beaches with palms.
Best regards,
Gert

Beautiful sight of the rocks formation, Paul, side light and shadows variable all over the picture space.
I see an imaginary "face" on the left side big rock.
Rightly chosen the main post, IMHO, ruins on the Ws, interesting enough - but main picture is just more attractive.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Goedemiddag Paul,
Ik heb al de foto's bekeken ze zijn allemaal even waardig.
Het terrein waar u zich bevond is een beetje onherbergzaam.
Maar voor dit type foto's echt geschikt
Qua kleur, scherpte en inhoud heel mooie serie.
Prachtig foto werk, bedankt.
Prettige dag verder,
John

Bonjour Paul,
Lorsque je regarde le rocher, j'aperçois un visage. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des ruines. La lumière donne un bon rendu aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hi Paul,
Great reportage where you combined the interesting historically ruins with the extraordinary rock formations. The rocky outcrop in the main photo made me think about the Yoda from Star Wars.
The light was challenging but effect magnificent. Very nice play of the light and shadow.
Excellent quality work,
M

Dag Paul,

Hallo Paul
Seems I should have left town earlier. I managed to get to the first lookout just in time for the most perfect lighting raking across the boulders and granite outcrops, so was in no hurry to rush up the hill in fading light and no torch. Tfs!

Hi Paul
3 great photos of these scattered remains. Any of the 3 could be the main one but the wider view of the main probably shows more.
cheers

Hello Paul,
Though the series is taken as a whole, I like this photograph the best for your main post! The cliff in the f/g, resembling the bowing head of a cockerel, is superbly illuminated and sort of guides the way to the ruins in the b/g.
I love history and it's so interesting to learn about the history of other countries. It is surprising how places, though Medieval in appearance, date back to much earlier times.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Paul.
It does not matter which of the photos is the main one, because they are all wonderful and give us a good ideal of what this ancient city series, in such a magical place between large rocks and with beautiful views of this rugged landscape.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Very well done. I love it.
Have a Happy Christmas weekend, together with family and friends.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Paul
The afternoon light adds nice shades to the landscape, above all in the foreground. Well done.

Hello Paul,
% fine images from these ruins. That rock in the main entry looks like a huge bust. My favorite is Altered Image #4.

MT
