Photographer's Note
While walking down the beautiful old streets of Ohrid in Macedonia (and photographing the houses), I saw these two elderly ladies. I found them adorable. I cannot guarantee, of course, but they looked like good friends from a long time ago...and I think that's wonderful.
You will probably not like the treatment, but I wanted to make them stand out from the background.

A strong image, imho. I enjoy the theme - the elderly and the friendship - and the dark background to stand out the ladies, as you mention on your note. That's perfect! Although I don't enjoy muchthe "white line" around their bodies, I understand your option. Well done!

VERY VERY nice shot! I love "moments" like this. So rare, often without a camera near by. You are lucky!

Zdravo Marija,
prekrasna fotka "starih" prijateljica. To je lepo, celi zivot se poznavaju i pricaju svasta,... ali ipak kad se vracaju iz trgovine jedna rece drugi: "cekaj, jos nesto ti moram reci..." To je stvarno lepo.
Pozdrav,

1) Name and Notes matter a lot. You excel in both due to your literature back ground :P
2) The treatment rather makes it a dreamy sequence to me. Its worked well Marija.
3) Rest all dof/contrasts are well managed. ...but POV is contemporary. Lol ..no no .. i did not mean you to get dirty on your back like i have ended up in my last posts. but then guess crouched or pov at an angle always accentuates the scene, especially people.
But 10/10 for you (out of the lil knowledge i have about clicking) ..This work of yours surely stands out well!
Cheers
Sid

Hello Marija
This is a very, very charming picture. What I like the most is the excellent light.
Nice deep en darker colours near the margins and the old ladies are brighter.
Sharpness is ok.

if you want to make something standout just use the manual focus and set the right distance:))

zdravko marija,
excellent, this is such a moody image,
if only those contemporary boards adverts were not present in the background, but it is not that easy nowedays to find places that fit 70+ years old people,
love this work,
best wishes, j.

Zdravo Marija,
pozdrav,

Hi Marija. An endearing scene of the "golden girls" as they are walking along the cobblestone pavement in the old town. Nice to have just a little bit of background context included but in away that does not distract from your main subjects. About the treatment, I have some doubts and it may border what is officially "legal" on TE, but it is evident why you did it and the result is quite good.

Hi Marija,
As you said that some one might not like the treatment but I like it a lot. My only complain is about the halo that has been caused by may be due to oversharpening around the two old ladies. otherwise this is a lovely capture.
Best regards

Marija,
In critiquing this third photo, I must confess both to admiring the quality of the photo, and its location, Ohrid. the composition, exposure, lighting are all very good. But more importantly, you have a knack for taking poignant pictures that tell a story, but not the complete the story. A good piece of art is always "open-ended," just as the Mona Lisa is open-ended. A thousand viewers will come away with a thousand different impressions.
I am a professor of physics in the United States, where I have lived most of my life. But I was born in Turkey. My father, who was a military officer (he retired as a general) was born in Ohrid, when the town was still part of the Ottoman Empire in 1910. He passed away in 2003, but had some recollections of Ohrid -- which I had always been curious of. If you get a chance, go to the website created by my publisher, www.bulentatalay.com then click on "About the Author." And on the latter site, click on "A Tribute to General Kemal Atalay."
Best wishes,
Bulent

A really lovely candid moment of these two old ladies - the decisive moment is wonderfully caught ...I just wonder if a composition which had them more to the right so that they have more space to turn into might have worked just a little better ....but the focus is really on them and they are just great!
best wishes Kev

Zdravo Maja. Neznam kako nisam primjetio ovu tvoju ranije. Jako mi se svidja zbog stila slike i zbog dirljive teme. Ove dame izgledaju i da ce stalno imati od cega da porazgovaraju, jer na kraju svega- prijateljstvo je za zivot. Pozdrav. Klaudio.
