Photographer's Note

I grew up in a little town outside of Toronto, called Whitby. Lake ontario was the largerst body of water I can ever remember seeing until I started to travel. This picture was taken as some bad weather was approaching Malta from the south. In this pic I was able to capture to some degree the water rushing out to sea. I believe that the waves that eventually came crashing down onto the shoreline were about 10 meters high (30 feet). These were the largest waves I had ever encountered and was truly amazed. Sounds kind of silly now that I have realized that 30 foot waves are fairly common in just about any country with a sea or an ocean... hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

In the background is a rock called fungus rock. I have posted another picture of fungus rock, in the other posting the sea was very calm (after the storm). The story of how fungus rock gots its name is also included with my other posting. http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Malta/photo284998.htm
