Photographer's Note

Bar is a coastal town in Crna Gora, widely known and esteemed for the best Hot Chocolate ever tasted.
furthermore, its big port is an entry point for large amount of goods imported into Montenegro and being a touristic destination it has also marinas for boats and yachts.
this panning of a biker moving slowly along the pier was taken around sunset, handholding a telephoto at 1/[email protected], ISO400, NEF.
post processing couldn't remedy the imperfect panning technique but corrected some contrast and sharpness issues.

Normally I'm not keen on blurry photos, but this one I like. The colours are excellent and the background gives nice hints of what's ther.

Very interesting effect Kostas, it would have been great if he was sharper, but i guess that would be very hard to achieve.

Great image!
Such a wonderfull tones and almost duotone effect.
The only point which could have been improved is a cropping which could set the biker a little bit more at the right side of the composition and a bit lower.
But even though... The result of "just a telephoto" is very attractive, bravo!

A nice experiment, with good contrast and colors. It is catchy for the eye to behold. Wish the driver would be slowed down more, but that`s 1,5 sec. for you. :)

Hi Kostas, the panning effect isn't so good here...but i like a lot the result...there is a beatiful game of blue and the biker breaks well the horizontal lines

Hello Kostas,
Panning is really frustrating. Most of the time, the photos are no good at all! There is so often something in the photo that doesn't work. Well... I can tell you, this one works very well for me!!! It has the essential elements that are making it a winner for me. The biker seems to float (or fly?) in a sea of... boats! ;) The colors are a bit surrealists, but with such a photo, it is just great.
I am not bothered by the fact that your "subject" is almost centered. Somehow, it adds to the feeling of floating (or flying!) in the midst of the sea. And I like the lower reflection of the bike.

Oh, he seems to be floating ! Don't know about perfection or not, but I like this very very much. It's got a very artistic look, also something dreamy and spectacular about it, and the soft colors and hues are lovely. The only tiny detail, to nitpick, I would have cloned the whitish line of blur just starting in his back. Compliments!
