'Gebr. Remmerde', a photo from Gelderland, North

Photographer's Note

The mill called 'Gebr. Remmerde' was built around 1716 and belonged to the Nederhemert Castle which was first mentioned in 1379. The mill is situated on top of the dyke along the Afgedamde Maas (𡞫ammed� Maas) river in the tiny village of Nederhemert-Noord.

Currently the mill is not fuctionally used any more but the owners try to keep interest for this part of heritage alive by organising tours. Before it was used as a corn mill. The mill has been renovated several times during the last 50 years, last in 2004.

In the background you see the Afgedamde Maas and part of the Bommeler Waard.

Such a typical Dutch scene with the mill and river.
I like how you composed it, with the very flat plain to the right and the mill surrounded with the houses and boats to the left. The colours are gentle and well balanced.

Hi Harko,
Excellent Dutch landscape, so distinct with the dykes and the windmills. The green is so refreshing. The wind mill hardly looks that old, seems they have done a good renovation job.
