fast forward, a photo from Noord-Holland, South

Amsterdam, Manuscripta.
non vi succede mai di accorgervi di un insieme di movimenti tra persone del tutto estranee tra di loro e di cominciare a costruire una scena, un film, una storia..? a me succede molto spesso, perche' mi diverte seguire la casualita' dei segni, delle situazioni, delle immagini che avvengono in contemporanea per vedere dove portano.
la scena di questa foto mi ha ricordato il concetto di una serie televisiva americana, "Fast Forward", nella quale i protagonisti, durante una specie di black-out, vedono il proprio futuro - in una specie di fast forward, appunto... forse anche la ragazza ha avuto un'epifania da fast forward..?
(foto scattata durante Manuscripta, un manifestazione che si tiene ogni anno ad Amsterdam per presentare la nuova stagione letteraria - ho rubato una compatta Canon alla mia amica...)

does it ever happen to you to catch a movement, a situation, or a juxtaposition of bodies, faces or even abstract signs or objects, and to start making up a story out of it..? I do it all the time - I just love the randomness of certain situations, the sheer coincidence of certain moments leading the imagination to build a narrative structure.
anyway - when I saw the girl and the woman with a bridal veil I had to think about this TV series called "Fast Forward", where some people get to catch a glimpse of their future during a black-out - like pressing the FF button on your DVD player...
who knows - maybe this girl too was having her fast forward moment...
(taken during Manuscripta, the annual book and literary event in Amsterdam - I had to snatch my friend's Canon Ixus for the occasion...)

a me succede spesso, se solo fossi meno pigro, credo che riuscirei a girarne almeno uno dei film vari che mi faccio mentre osservo la gente...poi le stazioni e gli alberghi, dove vivo io, sono luoghi pieni di queste vite di passaggio. La tua foto esprime bene tutto ci�, anche sfruttando la figura al limite dell'inquadratura, tecnica davvero interessante e poco utilizzata qui su TE, complimenti per la "visione" e per la foto.

Ciao Cristina,
mi piace molto il tuo modo di fare fotografia perch� le tue foto spesso escono dai tipici canoni della foto classica.
Riesci a dare un significato ad ogni cosa che fotografi e nel ritratto riesci sempre a cogliere le espressioni pi� particolari.
Sei bravissima nel gestire il bianco e nero e questa foto lo conferma per l'ennesima volta, dove vedo anche una luce molto ben gestita.

Questa volta per� non vedere ci� come un complimento.
Sto solo cercando di essere obiettivo e quindi quello che dico credo di dirlo con cognizione di causa.

Io costruisco e invento storie tutti i giorni, visto che il mio mestiere � scrivere. In questa tua emblematica immagine vedo una ragazzina in piena crisi adolescenziale e...una fata velata. Che tra un secondo si volter�. E...vai avanti tu? O io, alla prossima puntata?

Indeed an intriguing moment that sets my mind spinning. Considering that this situation must have passed rather quickly you must have grabbed your friend's handy little Ixus in less than a second. Good light, falling in the right places, and well cropped.
And altough I am a week late; happy birthday anyway :-)

Hi Cristina

I am trying to find out why I like this photo but I do! I think it is the mysteries that make this picture. The face of the lady with with head dressing and the world in which the girl whose face we can see seem to be immerged in, are the mysteries that us the viewers are challenged by. We humans have a love-hate with mysteries they challenge and excite us but they also frighten us making us attempting to desmystify and order them somehow.
