Photographer's Note

From the Bloemstraat you can see the Westertoren, height 85 meter.
The tower is part of the Westerkerk(church).
The making of the church began in 1620 and 18 years later, the work has been done.

In 1489 Maximilian Van Oostenrijk (Austria) gave the imperial crown in the city-arms of Amsterdam.
On the top of the Westertoren, you can see the imperial crown.

The church and the tower are part of the district, the Jordaan.
In the time, Napoleon rules in the Netherlands, he liked this part of Amsterdam and called it "Le Jardin" (the garden) but the name has been degenerated to "Jordaan", our very beautiful old working-class neighbourhood.

For the born Amsterdammer, the Westertoren is his mark, it is "his good old Wester"
I am not born in Amsterdam, I work here for many years and I can tell you, there are beautiful cities in the world, but there's only one Amsterdam ; come and see it for yourself !
