Flooded land, a photo from Utrecht, South

Photographer's Note

In the Netherlands we have two types of dykes, Summerdykes and Winterdykes. The reason is that during winter the level of the rivers gets much higher then in summer. The summerdykes protect the agricltural land which is used during the summerseason but might (and mostly will) flood during winter.

You won't find any houses in the area which could flood during wintertime but you might find other interesting things, like this boat, half filled with rainwater and still pretty unreachable due to the high waterlevels and the muddy ground.

This photo was taken in the foreland of the Lek river not too far from Utrecht (about 15km), just in front of the winterdyke which you see in the background. I did not get wet feet taking this photo.

hele fraaie compositie Harko,
leuk dat je er weer bent.
de boot doet het goed in deze technisch goed genomen foto. de kwaliteit is hier uitstekend, mooie details, fraai werk.

Excellent compo with the trees in the left third and the boat on the right. The colours are very good and the red boat adds to the beauty of the place and the balance of the picture. Well done.

Lovely nature, great colors, it's so flat it surely tells that it;s Netherlands, the half sinked boat gives a little exciting to the photo.

A beautifull combination of water, land and sky. Very nice natural colors, except perhaps for the red of the sunk plastic boat, but since the red is slightly faded, it fits wel in the image. Very good sharpness.

What a beautiful composition.
I like the richness of the colors,which are still absent here,in a good saturatin,just enough.
Composition well balanced with the trees on the left and the pole with the boat on the right.
