Project description
A natural river
The Stierskreek near Aardenburg (Zeeuws-Vlaanderen) will be dredged in 2020/2021 on behalf of the Scheldestromen water board. Cleanup of the creek is necessary to improve water drainage and water quality.

Within the project, 120,000 m3 of dredged material is removed from the creek using dredgers and processed in 2 dredging depots with a total surface area of 30 hectares. The plots on which the dredging depots have been realized are leased by the water board from local farmers. The dredged material is introduced via spray pontoons that distribute the dredged material evenly and homogeneously in the depots. After the dredged material has dried, the dredged material is placed on backs to promote the drying process. As soon as the dredged material has 'ripened' sufficiently, it is processed on the plots, after which it can be put back into agricultural use.

Hallo John,
Het bord aan de rechterkant kondigt de baggeraar al aan. Het is een mooi landschap hier in kalme herfstomstandigheden. De kleuren van de natuur zijn aangenaam en het kalme water zorgde voor mooi spiegelingen.

Hello John,
There is a fine light in spite of the clouds, which are nicely reflected in the river. The red and white boat brightens the view. The large sign provides some information, but I could also have imagined cropping that part. The tree would have created a fine frame for the view of the boat and the water.

Hallo John,
De wolken worden goed weerspiegeld in het water.
De baggerboot valt met zijn kleur op in dit groene landschap. Op dit moment in de herfst hebben de bomen al heel wat bladeren verloren maar toch zijn sommige nog heel wat groener dan andere. Ik heb nooit begrepen waarom twee gelijksoortige bomen die naast elkaar staan toch niet even snel al hun bladeren verliezen.
Zeer helder en scherp beeld!

Interesting how you've ended up here, anyway this is a very pleasant scene by the waterways as the eye catching barge and the bold sign lead throughout the frame. It's peaceful and appealing with superb detail and the reflection is a plus point strengthening the composition really well. Excellent

Hello John,

There is a lovely balance to your photograph as well as the usual clear, effective guide line, to a good focal point. The focal boat, besides being red, provides a fine reflection! What more could you ask for!
I like how the tree is just arching from the thirds line, to add a further connection with the boat!

a curious project where the soil removed from canals is used in agriculture. I liked the view, in special the red boat and the structure reflected as a modernist artwork.

Hello John,
So, you've cycled to the scene I recognized very well - the dredging.
I've seen this kind of cleanup in the canal where I live. Definitely the quality of the water has improved for the fishes and the wild birds to live/depend on the water.
This is a good reflection of the dredger and the beautiful soft sunlight in the nature surrounding. I think I've seen this scene before in one of your posting here especially the village in the distance.
Nevertheless, it's a very useful note.

Hi John,
what a lovely spot. The highlight for me is the amazing reflection with so well pronounced clouds in the water. It is so pretty that I would probably focus entirely on it.But the whole scene is attractive as well, and even the information board adds a local touch with something written on it in Dutch.

Wonderful reflections in the mirror like surface of the still water. Not much you could do about the sign at right. Might have a play in a workshop later. Good sharpness and excellent colour and saturation. Tfs!
