Photographer's Note
Another beauty queen from the summer carnival that was held in Rotterdam, luckily this carnival is not just for young beauty queens.
Don't you like her exuberant eyelashes? Doesn't she have a nice smile?
It was a very nice photo event, everyone whom I asked wanted to let their picture taken, and for a starting 'portrait photographer' ;-), these are very nice experiences.
All these people, willing to let their picture taken, help me to overcome my shyness. See also my previous upload.
The D70 was used a lot that day.
Cropped, cloned out some lipstick on her teeth (sometimes you have to help them being a beauty queen, right?), brought up the midtones via levels, applied USM, and added a frame.

My eyes a whelling up, I'm SO proud! ;o) This is another great capture of what looks like a great personality, you seem to have been realy lucky going to that event after all. The glitter on this womans face has brightened my day, and I'm still smiling.

very beautiful portrait Rinie :) she is beautiful..her eyelashes are terrific as well as the wig..
camera seems to have very good colors..ı loved its subtly low saturated tones (this and especially the previous one)..
(here, most helpful people for portraits seem to be the market sellers...maybe wprth a try there too..)

I can still remember the day you posted your photo "Meet my first model". What a terrific work you've been doing since then with the portraits you take. Really excellent crop and composition.

Are you SURE this isn't a drag queen? Living next to San Francisco I'm aware that a street festival will more often than not be the occasion for the city's gay population to display their more flamboyant side. Bare bottoms and guys in drag are more the rule than exception at those summer extravaganzas.
I'm not certain the people of Rotterdam would be pleased with how you are choosing to represent their city with these rather over the top characters... ;-)
Fine shot Rinie and excellent composition. Your camera is working well for you. I'm pleased that you are becoming more comfortable with this kind of shooting and that folks are responding so well to you. I'm not surprised.

Yes, a very unique character that you are doing a lot of justice with this fine portrait, Rinie. The glittering eyelashes, hair and necklace sure make nice attention-drawing elements and contrast well with the skin tones. Another fine portrait, seems you're really getting the knack of it ;-)

Hi Rinie, I see you stepped up y'r pace, take care now ;-)) This is again a very nice summer carnival capture. Love how the silver & glitter plays an important part in this capture. And what a radiant smile you captured here. You used the D-SLR DoF to great effect here. Excellent job Rinie, and nice to see that you carry diversity in your series this far. Fine note too.

What a beauty ;-)
So you became a very good portrait photographer, Rinie, and this is a happy photo. I'll post a WS, a bit different.

Rinie, I like this picture even better than the previous one! Absolutely great and very funny. Very sharp focus and a nice glance into the camera from this beauty. I admire your progress on taking portrait pictures. Please continue!

You've caught a really fun, upbeat portrait here. Like a lot. Maybe you should have left the lipstick on the teeth in on your shot - for that 'gritty realism' approach ;-)

Well...she's gorgeous! I guess from the necklace that her name is "Sharline". Very well done, Rinie, you're really making great progress with the portraits. Looking forward to more of them from you. Great colour and crop here.

Alo Rinie!!!
Seems that zamba is still playing in your mind and in your pictures for our good!!!
The D70 has entered in production mode, I am convinced of this.
This photo is a clear example of this.
Nice cropping, tight, fine details in the hair.
The smile is great, happiness of a great time.
Carnival portraits are not easy, cause there are too many colors and objects at the background to separate the face from it with just a blur.

Reeeeally love it, Rinie! :-))
This pic radiates such a fresh and bright mood. Fantastic close up and excellent sharpnes indeed. Seems I have missed the moment you started to do portraits so seriously, but impressed so very much from the excellent results you get, my friend! :-)) Congratulations on this one - fantastic!

I love Sharline :o) (i think it's the first name)

The expression here is great. The glitter, the silver hair, the long silver eye lashes. It's a face of "aren't I so pretty?" Really funny. And another very nice portrait. Although, and this is Mr. Sharpening himself talking, it might be a little too sharp. Maybe it needs a little more softness since the lighting isn't helping here. But then I'm not a portrait person and I rarely attempt it so don't rely on what I say about that. :) But still quite a capture, here. Great job.
