Photographer's Note
We found this nice mill on our way to visit some friends living nearby in Leeuwarden and decided to have a look at the mill along the way. Weather was really nice but enough wind to let the mill work at pretty high speed.
The Hempenserpoldermolen was originally build in 1863 and renovated in 1989. The mill is still working and used to pump the water out of the polder, but only during weekends. When the mill is not working an electro motor is used.
Inclueding the blades the height is 23.80m.
The mill is situated south of Leeuwarden, near the N31 highway. Usually it is working during weekends when there is enough wind (and not too much). When working it is also possible to visit the mill.
For more technical information and exact location see http://www.molendatabase.nl/nederland/molen.php?nummer=145 (in Dutch).

Dag Harko,

Regards.
Daniel.

Hello Harko, A beautiful well composed & balanced image where every thing seems to be in the correct place, colours , detail & clarity are excellent, postcard quality. A lovely old working mill with a name that is also interesting & for me unpronounceable. ;-) The blades contrast very well against the clear blue sky.
Thank you
Regards

Hi Harko,
this is very Netherlands. Composition is top quality. The windmill is perfectly positioned in the frame and the human inclusion brings size reference to it. I also like how you cropped the photo. Great job indeed!

Hello Harko.
Your photo of this large old windmill has a high quality about it - a beautiful gradient in the sky, and all the details very sharp and clear. I think your composition with square proportions is delightful, and the people in the picture make the mill seem huge. A lovely presentation, well done.

Andrew

Hi Harko, this photo is something your countrymen Henk or Jaap would be proud of. I love the framing and the DOF. The couple next to the windmill give us an excellent idea of scale and perspective. My compliments, Lisa.

Hello Harko,
Very good framing of this superb typically Dutch mill. I like much his development in the landscape. The inclusion of the small bridge on the left balance well the image. The natural colors and the light are well managed and I appreciate also the good clearness of the photograph allowing us a better reading of the details. Harko cheer and thank you for the interesting comment.
With all my friendships and very good Sunday,

Hi Harko,
Very nice picture. The subject is interesting here but it's not what impressed me the most, it's the exposure control and clarity of it which is absolutely superb. Well done!

Hi Harko,
Good light in good direction brings nice colours and good contrasts.
The slick landscape have many nice catchy and photogenic elements, from the curvy gate, the white bridge, the narrow river, the flag, the puffy clouds and the piece de resistance, the windmill.
CHers!
André
