Photographer's Note
Takkie
Today a very special photo from the old days. A photo that I took in 2005 with my first digital camera.
On the photo you can see Jip and Janneke and their dog Takkie. They are characters from the short children's stories about these next door children by Annie M.G. Schmidt. (1911-1995)
The sublime illustrations to these stories are from Fiep Westendorp.
Annie is a household name in Dutch children's literature. Almost every child was read from her many books in his youth and later read the stories herself. In addition to children's literature, Annie also wrote verses, songs, plays, musicals, and radio and television drama.
On October 10, 1992, this statue of Jip and Janneke and Takkie was unveiled in Zaltbommel by Annie M.G. Schmidt and Fiep Westendorp, who was born in Zaltbommel. The statue was made by Ton Koops
This photo is especially for Joanne and Craig and their new-born son Oakley Wen

Hello Rob,
What a lovely tribute for such a happy occasion. :-) These statues are charming, and they look nice standing on the bricks. This post made me smile all around. :-)

Hi Rob,
The subject is well framed. The point of view is showing the details of the sculpture of the children walking the dog. The clouds in the background are assets to the composition. Have a nice day.

Hallo Rob,
Een mooi geboortekaartje voor Craig, Joanne en hun zoon die binnenkort hopelijk bevriend raakt met Takkie. En het geeft gelijk de mogelijkheid nog wat Nederlandse cultuur te onderwijzen.

Hello Rob,
The figures, as silhouettes, have a striking impact against the pale blue sky. I like how their eyes are visible, helping to create character. It is a very well composed photograph.
What a tender tribute to Craig and Joanne and their new baby.
I'm sure they will get lots of family support and support each other, at this very special, thrilling time.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Rob,
Naturally I was a bit puzzled by this photo until I reached the end of the note. It is a very nice gesture and a fitting tribute to little Oakley Wen, but it is also a nice picture in its own right with these silhouettes of two children and their dog seen against the pleasant sky.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hallo Rob,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hello Rob,
I love the silhouetted profiles of the dachshund and the 2 young children walking their dog on a leash. Good sharpness and graphism. I am glad Annie could attend the opening ceremony in person in 1992.

Hello, Rob!
I don't know the characters, but their shape must be well known, so your capture of the silhouettes looks very nice against this bright sky! Excellent light and sharpness! Beautiful job!

Great dedication to the renewed Macintosh family ! Thanks to it, I learned about the important event !
I have also learned about Jip and janeke.
So again, it's a very instructive pôst !
Plus, the photograph is lovely, with these 3 dark silhouettes against the perfect blue sky adorned with pinkish clouds.
A very appropriate greeting card for the birth of a child !
