Photographer's Note
A puffin is about to land on the cliffs of the isel of Runde, Norway. The isle hosts the largest puffin's colony in Norway, as well as many more tens of thousand sea birds of other species.
Best season to see them is may to july.
Organized boat trips and hiking excursions are boat highly recomennded.
Puffins can be seen closely from the top of the cliffs, as in this case
PS. Let me add a comment. I thought that it was good for this picture to have one bird out of focus, to ennhance the real subject, which is the flying bird.
Nevertheless some of you have shown some concern about this. This is a nice thing of TE: sometimes we have some strong opinion on our photos, and we realize that they are not at all shared by everybody !

Ciao Stefano.
Ciao! :-)
Bobo.

Hello Stefano,
Thanks for this shot of puffins a bird I like a lot and I could see as well during a trip in Norway.
Your photo is interesting for the bird frozen in the air with a nice sharpness. However, I think I would have prefered to have also the second bird sharp on the bottom.
On the other hand, the feeling of strangeness provided is interesting as it is and you had to use a wide aperture to reach the high shutter speed needed to get the flying bird sharp.
Yves.

Hi Stefano,
I thought that it was necessary pity to have that a single net bird. But in fact it is what what gives all the dynamics to your photo. That returns the funny image, and the bird totally hallucinating with these red socks and its frozen nose!

Hi Stefano
Nice timing and depth of field. I like how the orange contrasts with the rest of the picture. That's a cool one :)

Hi Stefano,
I just love those birds ! And you caught the landing one so well !
After thinking I'm not sure I like the choice of one of them being out of focus either, but as you mentionned it's definitly your choice, and some people share it ! So... ;)
Anyway, I would have liked to be able to make the same photo !!!

Hola Stefano,
Me parece correcto y estoy de acuerdo contigo en que la imagen desenfocada del pájaro de la parte inferior hace que destaque el que está aterrizando. Una imagen llena de frescura y simpatía.

Stefano: a classic TN image - perhaps best there, but this is a great image - too bad the DOF couldn't be greater. regards, c

Hi Stefano, I was looking forward to see both birds sharp and was vey surprised to see one blurred and had very mixed feelings as to how I would prefer it. I guess both ways would do indicating companionship. The position of the flying bird with its spanned small wings is enough though to make it very interesting and makes one wonder how theyre able to carry their weight. TFS...Alex

Quello che mi piace di più in questa immagine è proprio la differente messa a fuoco che enfatizza il soggetto principale e "l'effetto tele" , ottima la composizione, complimenti!!!
buona giornata,
Fabio.

Shooting a puffin while landing is already something. But this is so enhanced by this wonderful bokeh that you realized on the second one... A masterpiece. I like it very much. Maybe you could remove these littles dust in the background of the landing puffin. So you ar egood and excellent with this unfocused bird . Thismakes it more artistic. Actually, even if few people share your opinion, this does not mean you are not telling the truth... " la verite n est pas toujours du cote du plus gand nombre " Boris Vian.

Hello stefano
You could have select "decisive moment" as category for this shot. I fully agree with last part of your comment and it sounds like "I'm a poor lonesome ...." that no body understand. My first impression was the bird in forground would have been better if in focus by reading your comment I think now your idea is a good one.
This is also a TE lesson : sometime it make you change your mind!.
Best regards

Fantastic picture! In my opinion blurred background and second bird is absolutely crucial in this photograph. This way we can concentrate on the main theme - the landing bird.
Excellent!!!!
