Hillside Farm, a photo from Sor-Trondelag, South

Photographer's Note

High above the bottom of the valley we find this farm, not a big one but the location is splendid!

Maybe not a surprise when I tell that farmers in this area make more money from forestry than from cultivating the fields...

This time I have a question for my distinguished viewers: Which image do you find most appealing, the main posting or the workshop? The subject is the same and both were taken at the same time, the only difference is the framing.

And one of them is my favourite too, but not necessarily the main posting!

Hi Pablo,
I would go for the WS as the feeling of depth is more pronounced with the view of the village down below and the scene is more interesting. The complimentary colours of the hut against the green spice up the whole atmosphere and mood. A good idea!!!

Pablo,
This is a nice landscape shot. The positioning of the red barn is nice drawing our eye across the scene. The lighting and colors are fine and the photo has nice sharpness. The slope of the hill creates a nice diagonal through the shot. I agree with Aloyho, I like the WS shot even better.

Always attractive , those red farms , in this green countryside . A welle balanced composition with superb colors and clarity . Like you , I' find often difficult to choose what picture to post . In this case , I think that I prefer the WS .

Hi Pablo,

The point of view is sending my eyes toward the farm building the toward the mountain which is giving depth to the composition. The trees are framing well the farm building. The late morning light is enhancing the colors. I like both photo, have a nice day.

I prefer this version to the WS, I think this original is better balanced with less details inside the frame. The red barn really stands out here and the backdrop view is just fantastic. Such a beautiful country, Norway is!

You have set a difficult task, here, Pablo!
And I do mean difficult!
I find this problem frequently when I am posting my shots. I will compose a shot showing a building in its wider environment but, as I look more closely at the sharpness, I wonder why I don't post the building close-up for its intimacy of detail!
I love the first shot for the reasons I have just outlined and there is a stronger sense of a f/g triangle.
However, the w/s does show the wider context and there is a lovely balance with the bush at the botton l/h corner. On the whole, I suppose the w/s just wins ... which is probably why I post the wider picture!

I really enjoy this picture. Marvellous lighting and very attractive colours. I think both photos are equally good. I appreiate that the red barn is closer in this picture, but on the other hand side the lines are more attractive in your WS photo. TFS and have a nice weekend!

I took a look at the workshop photo.
and i have to admitt to you that i prefer that one, the one in the workshop.
it shows more of the landscape, and the red barn/hut is more of an added element as appose to the main subject.
i like both, but prefer the other.
hope you dont mind!
both have beautiful lighting, colours and sharpness.

I like your shots with small wooden red houses among the greenery very much. This one also is very good on composition, combination of colors and excellent use of the sunlight. In addition, there are beautiful woody mountains in the background under the wonderful pure blue sky. Perfectly good capture and as usual highest quality!
I like both images in this post, the WS seems to be a bit more informative.

I can't escape from your gallery. :) The first occasion I saw this kind of red houses was when I firstly visited your gallery years ago, and I was (and still am) always embraced by its beauty. Seems like this color is quite popular for huts in Norway. About this photo: marvellous view with fantastic colors, awesome composition with a closed hillside, a mountain chain in the far bg and the sky! Probably I'd cropped the other house from right to get more simpleness (obviously this is the answer to your question: the WS photo's even better) - but the shot is very effective this way, too, and the color harmony is beyond words. Stunning image. Bravo. Also congrats for being brave enough to post your fave as a WS, not a main post!

Both a fine pictures, but my personal opinion would slightly tilt towards the WS post, because of the wider view, where the diagonal of green is more strong creating (for me) a better visual appeal! Your teaser is well appreciated ;-)

Hi Pablo. The view(s) are amazing with great colors and very good definition. The main post more concentrated on the house shows better its nice details but the ws has more depth and is better balanced than the main. So I'll stick with the WS :).
