An incredible photo. This could be used as a poster for a suspense movie, maybe a remake of the famous M. The light is masterly handled and the environment creates a perfectly eerie atmosphere. This is way above the average TE standard.

Nice!!! However I see a little skew. Moreover I cannot see any other strangers except the man in a hat (see: the plural form in the title :-). And the note is somehow meaningless to me.

Zdravo Kasia. I see that you are becoming more and more self-assured when toying with light/atmosphere and now you are creating real gems like this one. It is so evocative, mysterious and beautiful.I just love the details (as if for a movie set):the lamp, the crosses, the heavily lopped trees (barely visible), the potted flowers, the bushes in autumn colours, the roof tiles- all of these catching in subtle ways the glorious light. Hi Kasia - great silhouette shot! So much of it essentially monochrome, and that makes the otherwise very subtle oranges and reds here stand out beautifully. Lots of mystery and intrigue to this one; shooting into the light has a great effect throughout the frame. Thanks!

talk about your atmospheric photos!

this one has tones of mood and atmosphere.
its the type of scene that we'd see on the cover of a novel.

love the long extended shadow and the light fixtures above him.

its expected to see the man move a bit over the 5 sec exposure, so there's not much to do about that.

I don't often use the word WOW, but that was exactly the first word that came out of me when I opend this shot.
Very moody picture, that could come out of a Edgar Wallace crime movie. Everything about is is perfect. The clarity of the buildings and street, the fog, the wonderful brown colors, the silhouette of the man and his great shadow. Simply stunning indeed.

Now this is the business. The dramatic lighting recalls Film Noir effects, and for this reason, I think I'd have been tempted to opt for monochrome in this instance. However, your colour version is still full of moody atmosphere. Although not strictly in the Film Noir genre, I wonder if you've ever seen "The Third Man"?

Hello Kasia:

This is easily one of the most stiking photos I have seen on TE in a very long time. Incredible detail in the dark areas, such as the rooftop decor on the left and the tree branches ahead of the man. Though it is a color photo most of it looks black and white, but the best things about this shot are the long shadow and the intense light coming from the right. Absolutely superb!

I am aware that I will be politically incorrect by writing this, but I couldn't believe the guy who gave you a single point for this stunning photo, when looking at his own gallery... I can see he doesn't have a clue about photography, shooting statues and postal truck in the most meaningless and boring way... Can't believe it... Just seeing an odd number on this shot left me incredulous.... The guy is shooting statues and all he finds to say is that he sees a skew... What a fruitcake??? Okay, I'm done.

This light, this effect, this result are remarkable. This is the stuff that is being made and staged in Hollywood, it's a cinematographic image, it's something Tim Burton needs 60 technicians and prop makers to achieve. It's a splendid and very singular shot.

The church becomes creepy in this context, and what a church it is!... The trees also bring their own spooky bits, just as much as the hatted man and his stretched shadow. The colours are almost monochromatic, with just a hint of orange in the background, to mark the fact that it is in colour.

Tell me you were not there by yourself... Maybe I would have run instead of shooting this scene!

Fascinating result. Mind blowing atmosphere. Flawless.

This looks like a scene from Sherlock Holmes' Hound Of The Baskervilles. The fog and the silhouette along with the light give this an eerie feel to it. Brilliant work on the exposure.

This is a truly magical shot, I am sure it's been said already but this reminds me so much of the poster for the move The Exorcist. This image has suspense, intrigue and such beautifully managed light. The silvery effect of this light against he tower of the building is just superb, and the human character adds such a fine elelement. Magical shot, really nicely done.

This photo has an odd effect on me; I don't know if it's gothic or about being religious. I guess it's because there are so many familiar symbols in your frame.
The light and the fog are exelent components, as is the long shaddow under the lamp.
I think it's great.

Hello Kasia,

timeless and priceless. A great shot under extremely difficult lighting conditions. I would suppose you had a 12 kW floodlight behind the corner, as it looks like a movie scene. As we Germans say "Grosses Kino!"
BTW: Steady hands under difficult conditions, yes, it seems. And they are hereditary. My elder son is a professional camera man...

Czesc Kasiu,
to zdjecie nagle wylonilo sie jako Twoje najbardziej popularne na TE. Zastanawia mnie to poniewaz nie przypominam sobie zebym na nie zwrocil uwage wczesniej. Te panna mloda ograniajaca snieg dobrze pamietam...
Kompozycja tak fajna ze az surrealistyczna. Pan w meloniku to na pewno Charlie Chaplin, nie mam cienia watpliwosci. On natomiast oprocz sywetki wnosi tutaj wspaniale ciekawy cien.
Po lewej drewniany kosciol po prawej ornamentalna lampa.
Doskonala jakosc, znakomita praca!
