Photographer's Note

On the basis of the partially preserved camp records and estimates, it has been established that there were approximately 232 thousand children and young people up to the age of 18 among the 1.3 million or more people deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp.
This figure includes about 216 thousand Jews, 11 thousand Gypsies, at least 3 thousand Poles, over 1 thousand Byelorussians, and significant numbers of Russians, Ukrainians, and others.

Wow, this is my favourite in the series! Superb verticals and contrasts, very atmospheric. This would make a really superb book cover - and for me that's quite a strong criterion at times. My congratulations for your latest addition to the series here!

des images qu'on ne veut plus jamais voir � l'avenir et le noir et blanc est l� pour bien les repousser dans ce pass� douloureux que l'Europe a connu sous le nazisme.Le peu de couleur met l'accent sur d'horribles choses.
