Photographer's Note

I am usually quite bad in remembering anniversaries and celebrating occasions on TrekEarth but, strangely enough, this is the third time that I remember the anniversary of the date on which Karol Wojtyla was chosen to become Pope John Paul II (16th October 1978). This is a third time when I am showing a monument of the late Pope on such occasion, so I decided to create a special theme for that. At first I thought about using the theme for monuments of the late Pope which can be found all around the world but then I decided to make it more general and use it for all photos referring to or even dedicated to Karol Wojtyla, and I have found on TrekEarth a few already. This photo presents the monument of Pope John Paul II in Zamosc. Probably not the most impressive one but nevertheless a good contribution to my collection. I wrote more serious notes about John Paul II under previous photos so if you are interested in my opinion please refer to them. October 16th certainly marks an important milestone in the history of my country and the whole world. Even though the Pope may be actually a symbol of conservative values, he is also a symbol of change. That little boy born in a poor Polish family shortly after the WWI, had an enormous impact on the whole world.

Each and everyone of us had the power to make a difference. Think about what you can do to make the world a better place.
