Photographer's Note

Auschwitz II (Birkenau) is the camp that people know simply as "Auschwitz". It was the site of imprisonment of hundreds of thousands, and the murder of over one million people, mainly Jews.

Birkenau has a huge atmosphere. It's quiet; all you can hear is the odd bird making a noise. Huge atmosphere.

This is a great shot. Great choice for B&W, also nice composition with the fence in the foreground spanning the entire frame; it gives the impression that all access is restricted. Also great DOF and point of focus.

Great photo. Black&white really shows the atmosphere, as well as the barbed wire. Nice job :)
