Photographer's Note
This way of transportation have more tram 100 years. In city of Oporto one line it's working, go from Ribeira along te Douro River.
I was shooting in color but I decided to post this one in B&W , with the tram a little desature. It gives you the timeless feeling.
EDIT :
In my photo, the original was color.
In PS i unsharpen the photo,
select only the tram, with magic hand
Select -» inverse
adjustment-»Desaturate
Select -» inverse (tram select)
adjustment-» colors less yellow and red
I hope you like.

What a beautiful tram – nice old shapes and tones. And your great post-processing work makes the image even more attractive.
Very well done.

Nice image rafael. I don't know OPorto. Nice job. I am not able to do that.. How do you manage to desaturate only a part of the image.
Nice to see the driver..

Very moody picture. Looks like it could've been taken as well in present time as 50 years ago. I like it partly coloured and b&w.

Dear Rafael,
again you did a good job with this kind of picture. IMHO this works so well, because of the harmonic colours to the b&w. Good composition too. Thanks for sharing :)

Great photo Rafael and very nice post process. The desaturation works very well with this compostion. You are progressing very fast and you have a good eye for photography. I like the way you have left some space for the tram to move in to and your B&W realy makes it time less.

You are really good with this technique, and you use it in a very special way. I like this tram very much. A very nice shot and processing. Well done, Rafael.
BTW - did you try the opposite option, I mean desaturation of the tram and keeping the buildings and the street in colors? it could be interesting!

Yes, I like it. Good amount of details (sharpness) and also good angle and composition. The lighting is also incredibly dramatic. (I also have a picture of a Lisbon tram that I haven't have the courage to post up to now. Someday...)

This is fabulous, Rafael. Once again a wonderful effect you achieved with this technique. This place in the old part of the town makes a perfect setting to take a picture of the tram. Grand old architecture, and a great old machine. I grew up in Graz, Austria, where they also have had trams for more than 100 years now, and I used to drive to school by tram every day while I still lived there. I think Yitzhak's idea of reversing the desaturation is interesting, but for the sentimental reason I just mentioned I prefer it your way. Excellent work. Added favorite.

I like tram pictures and this one is a classic, with the tram passing so close to the buildings. Excellent post-processing work, Rafael. Well framed.

it's in the same style as your lamp you posted before. But I like this one more. The soft brown goes very well with the b&w background

Grande foto, Rafa! Bem, nem sei o que dizer, só que tenho que te dar os parabéns pela tua evolução, nunca vi nada assim. Sem falar do trabalho de pós-produção. Simplesmente magnífico. PARABÉNS!
Wonderful picture, Rafa! Well, I'm just speechless, I want to congratulate you for your progress, I've never seen nothing like this. Not to mention your pos-processing. Simply magnificent work. CONGRATULATIONS!

Very well done ! The composition is very good and the idea to desaturate really gives it a timelessness. By keeping the saturation of the colors on the tram you underline the present and still keep the past open. Thanks !

This is a very interesting effect. I also like how close the tram is to the building; you KNOW that isn't up to modern zoning codes!!!
The more shots I see from Portugal the more I know I just have to go there someday.

this is a great picture...I have it my my fav pics for a long time and keep showing to friends around when I am in TE..I was probably new to the site by then and shy to post a comment on such appreciated photos...(one feels embarrassed just to write "very nice")...
I want to ask one thing : did you leave the black piece on right top white to give ref to the size of the street ? or ?
thanks :)

When I checked out your account for new pictures, I saw in the random representation this picture. You posted it long before I started with TE. So I have an arrears in giving comment to old pictures. But for this picture I must give my complements. A great choice to make it B&W accept the tram.

Hi, Rafael.
Great title, fantastic composition.
Great moment caught, nice facial expression of the driver.
Nicely done B/W to leave only the moving object.

I liked both the idea and the performance of the post-processing.
One thing I would have tried to do is to make the left window of the tram less shiny.
Liked the way the tram driver looks like a ghost.

Ola Rafael,
you showed a great mood here.
Nostalgic photo but also makes a strong impression.
In my town runs on a single line an old tram , too.
Good vertical capture and B/W - colour mix.
