The Pal塶io Nacional de Queluz was the royal residence of two generations of monarchs. It was built at the instigation of King Pedro III (1717-1786), to whom the Quinta de Queluz belonged, when he was the third Lord of the House of the Infantado, created in 1654 by a warrant from King Jo緌 IV for the second sons of the kings of Portugal. This estate comprised all the property confiscated from the supporters of the Filipes after the Restoration and on the accession of the Duke of Bragan蓷 (1640) to the throne it included the estates of Manuel de Moura C皾te-Real (1592-1652), 2nd Marquis of Castelo Rodrigo, owner of the country estate of Queluz.
